Qantas: New Fashion Uniforms, Look, Design

From the News publications in Australia, they have this headline: "Qantas reveals new flight attendant uniform" with these highlights: "FRENCH navy, red and a splash of hot pink are the calling cards for the new Qantas uniform unveiled with a huge runway show in Sydney this morning. Miranda Kerr rocked the runway in a French navy trench coat, just one of the pieces cabin and ground crew will start wearing next year. Tagged as sophisticated, fresh, understated, modern and wearable the new uniform was designed by Paris-based, Melbourne-born designer Martin Grant, a man who is renowned for exquisite tailoring. He created 35 garment styles for male and female employees - a total of 400,000 pieces of clothing. While not wanting to take the 'flying kangaroo' emblem too literally, Mr Grant choose to incorporate the red Qantas triangle logo very effectively on the lapels, and skirt 'vents'. Flanked by Cate Blanchett and Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, the 300 strong crowd – most of whom were Qantas employees – gave the uniforms a standing ovation."

Another story linked below noted that Australian fashion model Miranda Kerr is an ambassador for the Australian carrier and a Victoria Secret model. They also noted the designer's splash of fushcia, his favorite color. They expected the new designs to be worn by Qantas crew members starting early next year. We will have three flights on Qantas within Australia before our Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Celebrity Solstice sailing, departing Sydney, going from Australia to Auckland/NZ doing 14 days on this ship. We will have another in business class flight with that airline between Auckland and Brisbane after our cruise. Look forward to seeing these new Qantas uniforms and sampling their food/service.

The colour balance in those photos makes the bit that's supposed to be Qantas red look like Jetstar orange.

A bit of a metaphor for the entire company at the moment.

Very nice and the dress will be flattering to all figure types. Really like the trenchcoats with the red lining. And the hats are modern and utilitarian, with brims for some sun protection. Separates are much more useful, though, as the blouses can be laundered easily before another work day.
