Cartagena over night?

We are going toCartagenain feb next year and the ship will be in port over night giving us a lot of time there. The reason is that Celebrity has cancelled Costa Maya on this cruise, we didn´t have any plans for Cartagena and now we need to spend two days there.

We are active and don´t mind walking a lot. We like beach days, zip lines and stuff like that. We are not big city people and we aren´t on holiday to go shopping.

How do we spend two days in Cartagena and get the most out of them?

Everyone likes different things, this is what I did: I booked a tour with Celebrity and it was excellent. It included La Popa, photo stop at the fort, a bit of shopping time at the dungeons (20 min. maybe so not much wasted time), walled city tour and folkloric show. It was a great day. The area I would have spent more time if possible was the walled city, very interesting and picturesque area with a lot more to see.

There are lots of options with the mud volcano, beach (in town or boat to other areas), city tours, fort tour, etc.

We have had an overnight there as well.

If this is your first time there be sure to visit both the modern and the old city.

The Fort is great as is the walled city and be sure to go up to the Catholic Church which is high atop the city.
