Bus from Monaco to Eze #112

The bus route from Monaco to Nice on bus #112 shows 2 stops in Eze. Coming from Monaco the first stop is Eze Plateau de la Justice and the second stop is Eze Village. The time difference is 7 minutes. Is there an advantage to one stop over the other?

Thanks!

Hi Coolcruise02,

Looking at this schedule, it shows several Eze stops, but I don't see Eze Plateau de la Justice (it's on the #83 route between Eze bord de Mer and Eze Village).

http://www.lignedazur.com/horaires_ligne/index.asp?rub_code=6&thm_id=1312&gpl_id=0&lign_id=1093&sens=2&date=25%2F08%2F2009

I remember only one bus stop for the tourist village, where the parking lot is ... if you get off at any other Eze stops, I think you'd have to walk along the road (the middle corniche) to get to Eze Village.

Thanks for all the help. I think I am confusing my self with all the maps/info I have printed off.

Susan-M,

You are right I have the timetable for bus # 82 to take to Nice along with #112 after we are done at Eze. I assumed we could catch either bus to go on to Nice. Is that correct?

Hiltner,

I have a print out with no web site (sorry) but at the top it says:

Nice*Beausoleil Ligne 112

Starting at La Cremaillere with stops at:

Bequsoleil

Cap D'Ail

St Laurent D'Eze

Eze Village 2

Eze Village 1

Col De Villefrance

Barla

Nice

Do I have the wrong info? What is this for?

Thanks Susan-M for the webs site. I printed out that route #112 schecule.

Thanks for all the help!

You're welcome!:)

According to the schedules, they both go Nice, but different stops ... hopefully someone who is familiar with these locations can tell you the difference, or you can find them on a map. (I haven't been to Nice.) http://www.eze-riviera.com/emotions/deplacement/ang/bus.htm

Sorry, ignore that bit about different stops (not sure why this schedule shows different names ... when I checked the lignedazur site, it shows the same stops in Nice for 82 and 112).

I must admit to be puzzled why the various bus schedules to Nice use two different terms (Gare Routiere and Coach Station) for Nice. The Gare Routiere is the main "coach station" and is located a few blocks inland from the old town. This bus station is very easy for tourists since they have a large electric schedule board with all the bus numbers, destinations, times, and parking slot. The buses are also clearly labled and there are plenty of folks around who speak English and can answer any questions. As to the Eze Village, you can catch buses right outside the entrance to either Nice or MC, or you can take the local shuttle bus that runs from Eze Village down to the train station at Eze/Bord sur Mer where you can catch the regional train that can take you to Nice, MC, Antibes, Cannes, etc.

After mentally planning 'our day' in Villefranche port, I have spent so long looking at and trying to find bus schedules and have just about given up trying to combine going to Monaco ( in time for changing of guard and short look round)and then bus back to Eze Village and then back to Villefranche. Sounds easy but from what I can find buses are very infrequent and not sure if you have to go back down to Eze Bord-de-Mer and get bus back or just one from Eze Village as not sure where that one leaves you in Villefranche ( or even if it is one to catch) There seems to be so many stops at each place I am just so lost! I also wonder how full these buses are likely to be. If one is too full and you have to wait for ages for next you could be spending the day getting to know bus stops very well and not much else! Have thought that maybe we would go to Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on way back from Monaco instead but just cannot work out if we would get dropped off anywhere near there! ANY help much appreciated!

Jean,

What are your arrival and departure times in Villefranche, and when do you need to be in Monaco by?

I think the train to Monte Carlo would be faster than the bus, depending on the train schedule ... and getting to the train station in VF is easier than walking to the bus stop.

Coming back from Monte Carlo, Bus #112 to Eze Village, and #83 down to Eze bord de Mer, and #100 from Eze bord de Mer to Villefranche (l'Octroi stop).

We plan on catching bus #112 at La Cremaillere (above casino gardens) getting off at Eze for a while and taking the bus on to Nice. Then we are going to take the train back to Monaco. We are in port from 9-8 so we have plenty of time for trial and errors. :)

Hi Susan,

We are in Villefranche from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Originally we were overnighting there but are now overnighting in Nice, leaving at 7 a.m. to go to Villefranche. Evidently the Changing of the Guard is at 11.55 a.m. Have no idea whether it is worth seeing but read about it in Lonely Planet and thought we might as well be there at that time. We don't plan to go to casino. Do you know what the website is for trains? Also do you know where you catch the #112 from Monaco to Eze Village?

Many thanks,

Jean

Hi Susan,

Do you know what the website is for trains?

http://www.ter-sncf.com/ There used to be an English version, but I don't think it's available any longer.

Alternatively, someone on CC posted this schedule a while ago (also in French) ... it is in effect until mid-December, and I think the 8 pages of schedules are for trains in both directions, for the full day. http://www.ter-sncf.com/Images/FH04-Mandelieu-Grasse-Vintimiglia_ete_tcm21-63473.pdf

Also do you know where you catch the #112 from Monaco to Eze Village?
On this map, it's near #10 (above the casino) ... that's where we got off when we came from Eze to Monte Carlo. http://www.frommers.com/images/destinations/maps/jpg-2006/149_monacoattractions.jpg

I have photocopied pages from Rick Steve's book, Provence and the French Riviera, which shows bus stop locations on a map ... maybe you can get a copy of his book from your library?

It is on Rue Des Iris Street between the casino gardens and Blvd Princesse Charlotte. From what I have read it is not a bus station, only a "bench".

Great that you came up with an exact street name ... I don't think anyone has posted it before! Easy to pinpoint on google maps when you have the name of the street: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Rue+Des+Iris,+monaco&sll=43.750298,7.412841&sspn=0.076385,0.105572&g=monaco&ie=UTF8&ll=43.740569,7.425009&spn=0.004775,0.006598&z=17

Thanks for the Rick Steves' directions. This is like a scavenger hunt, trying to locate all the info you can before the cruise. :)

Now I know the bus stop is on the right side across from the bank!

I agree that this port in particular seems challenging to find info on. I wish I knew as much when we went as I know now, but we managed well with the directions we had and with asking locals when necessary (although that required our limited knowledge of the French language and hand gestures, because we weren't very successful in finding English speaking locals.)

You seemed to have had a 'good handle' on bus stop directions, but glad that I could help a bit more.

Enjoy your cruise!:)

This may be of interest to some.

Last fall, this is where & how we got to the 112 bus to Eze from the casino area.

If you walk across the street with the casino directly behind you, you will enter a lovely small park area. This picture is from the park area looking back at the casino:

http://www.visitmonaco.com/index.cfm...age&pageID=241

Once in the park area, take the path that bears to the left & goes uphill. After a very short walk, the path will bring you in front of the main Tourist Information Center. The people in the Tourist Info. Center were very helpful, go in and get the most current bus schedules. Cross the street in front of the information center, and you will see a stairway on your left going up to the next street. Take this stairway to the next street up from the info. center. Once you reach the street, the bus stop for the 112 to Eze is just across the street on your left.

Make sure you stop in the Info. Center to verify the bus still stops there & also pick up a timetable for the 112.

Side note: If you time in Monte Carlo permits, the casino looks wonderful when it is lit up at night.

Stay well,

Anthony

Am I reading this correctly? It says

7 Mon-Sat, none on Sun

Do the buses not run on Sunday from Monaco to Eze?

I would check this schedule as you can see the schedule for the date that you'll be there.

If it comes up in French:

- click on the U. Jack

- then 'Timetables' to the right of 'Plan your Journey'

- then 'Timetables' above 'Consult your line's timetables'

- select #112.

- choose your date.

Yes, the buses do run on Sundays. If you check the schedule here, click on your bus number (112) and than choose a Sunday date in the date box you will see the times.

I posted this link since it gives anyone access to all the bus lines (not just 112). As you can see, the buses do not run very often which is a problem on this line. It just means you need to do some good planning or simply rent a car (we often rent cars in France and Italy) which will give you complete flexibility and allow you to easily get to many places during your port stay.

I am right now looking for how to get the Bus #112 from Monaco to Eze-le-Village and trying to follow the links above for lignedazure, found them no longer working. This link IS working: http://www.lignedazur.com/ Then follow Susan's instructions. I am also having trouble figuring out if or when the bus #112 runs on Sunday, so I will either take the advice to stop in the tourist office or scrap this plan of going to Eze-le-Village. Having never been to Monaco, there is probably enough to do there for as long as we will be in port without having to worry about figuring out bus lines.

OK, I have looked at the timetables for the bus from Villefranche to Eze. We will need bus number 82 on a Sunday to get to Eze village. However I am confused by the number of different stops in Villefrance. Which one is the nearest/easiest to get to from the cruise port?

The 82 bus does work best as long as you are coming from the west (Villefranche or Nice) but is not helpful for those in Monte Carlo (I am just posting this for their knowledge). As to the 112 bus, it does run on Sundays.
