We did the dolphin encounter which is at the same place. You take a water taxi to the island, iirc it was 20-30 mins away. The beach is sheltered with toys and such to play. I wouldn't take a 10 year old there, but that's me, it was mainly people with children 6 and under.
There are other beaches in Nassau, or you can do the walking tour off of Trip Advisor, there are lots of other options.
