Next month we will stop at Pier 91 as part of our B2B to Alaska. Since we will be given a transit pass's we would like to walk to a near by Wine Store to purchase some wine.

Is there such a place close to Pier 91 and what is the difficulty level of walking there?

Would like to avoid crossing a major street/highway or something like that.

Thanks

Bob

Total Wine and a Whole Foods are very close to Pier 91 and definitely walkable although the streets in the immediate area of the pier are sort of unfriendly and industrial. Roughly 8/10ths of a mile each way. Total Wine is basically behind Whole Foods on W. Armory Way at 15th Ave. W. The hardest part is getting across the rail tracks and past the Staples store. Once on 15th piece of cake. That Total Wine location just opened last Fall.

Go to Google maps and enter “2001 West Garfield Street” that’s the address for Pier 91. Go to “earth” and zoom in until you see 2 long blue covered buildings/walk ways on the pier, the one on the west side is the walkway out of the pier area, you see a whole bunch of small white lines, those are the walkway/path to the Magnolia bridge. Walk South along the walkway until you come to the Magnolia bridge, go up the stairway to the bridge deck and walk East until you come to the end of the bridge, turn left, cross the street and head North on 15th Ave N. Whole Foods is just up the street about ¼ of a mile. By going up on to the Magnolia bridge you don’t have to cross the train tracks or go into the industrial area. Be careful walking in the pier area, they’ll be a lot of traffic.

There's a shortcut to be taken if the day is inclement (rarely happens during the cruise season) or you're just feeling slothy.

Take the shuttle bus from the terminal to "cruise passenger parking" and ask the driver to stop at the bridge. There's a marked stop there, and you won't have to schlep down the entire pier. See the handy photo. On the return you can flag them down.

Walk path from Pier91 to Whole Foods (and a liquor store, to my memory)

I'm uploading a text file with contact info and addresses, etc. of 3 locations near Pier 91 where you can purchase wine.

Hope this helps.
