Default Hawaii roundtrip cruise.

If anyone has done the Hawaii roundtrip I am interested to know if they repeat many of the shows especially the production shows over the 35 days.I really enjoy these shows but would not want to see them over and over. Roughly how many would they do?

We did this cruise recently on the Dawn Princess. Because the cruise is sold as a cruise (and not a couple of cruises back to back) none of the production shows are repeated. I think they had seven shows and of course there were a number of guest entertainers who joined the ship for a week or so, did their shows and were replaced for the next part of the cruise.

In my opinion, the Tahiti part of the cruise is just so much better than the Hawaii bit. Just my opinion.

Unfortuately you don't have to be on a long cruise to see repeated shows.

We saw the same shows on 2 different Princess ships over 18 months apart. Ok! different performers but same show, same songs, same costumes!

I wonder when they actually change the shows altogether across the fleet?

I think it is a gradual change. One show will be dropped in favour of a new one, and some time down the track another show will be replaced. If you cruise a lot, you will see the same shows repeatedly. With the cost of shows (choreography, costumes, training etc.) they can't drop a show too quickly, although it would be good if they changed more often than they do.

Many thanks for your reply. Was all of the entertainment good? We have just booked to do the same trip on the Sea Princess next year.

With that cruise they typically fly in fresh entertainers at Sydney, Auckland, Fiji, Papeete & Hawaii . So fresh shows and entertainers all the time.

On our recent Sydney - San Francisco cruise on SEA PRINCESS the entertainers were largely Australian of high quality and flown in to the above ports to join the vessel . US entertainers joined SEA PRINCESS in Honolulu for the final leg to San Francisco .

We were on this cruise this year on the Dawn Princess. We have been to Tahiti a few times previously, and still felt it was far better than Hawaii. Years ago we went to several Hawaiian islands (land tours) and were a bit disappointed with the experience of visiting the islands by cruise ship. Still prefer Tahiti.

Tours - in virtually every port, including Hawaii and Tahiti, you can buy tours on the dock.

Best shopping - in Hawaii virtually everyone went to Walmart. Alcohol was very cheap, reasonable quality shoes were also cheap, but in my opinion, the clothes, although cheap, were basic. OK for kids' clothes.

If you are interested in good quality Tahitian pearls I can give you the name and address of a genuine wholesaler in Papeete.
