Carambola Beach Club closed our port day - any other beach suggestions?

Just heard back from Carambola and was advised they are closed for a private event for our port day in March..

Are there any beaches similar to their experience?

Carambola is on South Friar's Beach. Even if Carambola is closed, the beach will still be there.

Carambola is a nice place and priced to match. It is at the north end of the beach. You could go a half-mile or so south where there are several hamburger or drink shacks with loungers. Not nearly as upscale.

I believe Cockleshell beach at the far end of the peninsula has some facilities.

Closer to port, S Frigate Beach should have plenty of eateries. I have heard that the beach itself has deteriorated. Haven't seen it myself.

Thanks, grumpyfan....we will be there a few days later on a Thenford tour, so I wanted to know if it (the resort) was open!
