Europe Next Week

So totally excited we are leaving in a few days for a week in Zurich followed by a week up the Rhine on Uniworld and three days in Amsterdam. So any last minute tips and suggestions? What have I forgotten?

Expect Florida winter temperatures with cold rain alternating with warm sunny days. Leave space in your luggage for souvenirs! Enjoy your cruise!

Make sure you notify your credit card companies of your travel plans. With the recent Equifax hack the card companies are keeping a closer eye on what they perceive as "strange" charges. You don't want your credit cards frozen while you are gone.

Same goes for your ATM cards. Also it's probably too late for tickets for Anne Frank House, but you can get timed tickets for the museums before you leave

Not sure where you will be on that day, but 3rd October is a public holiday in Germany, with shop closures, museums and tourist places including tourist information centres should be open in the places you will visit.

Layers. We disembarked in Basel today. Over the last 9 days we've had 40 degrees and constant rain to sunshine and 76 degrees.

While in Amsterdam if you have interest in the Dutch flower auction and you are an early riser...then a visit to Aalsmeer is worth it. It is huge !!!!! And the scent of all those flowers is so heady. Check it out on youtube.

Check out the public library...not far from the Centraal Station. Go to the top floor and the outdoor observation deck. There is also a cafe / cafeteria up there very resonably priced.

Take the free ferry to the north side....also very near the centraal station.

Stay off the red coloured pathways. These are for bicycles and they show no mercy for pedestrians.
