Horseback riding

I am going on a carnival cruise to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau in July. Its been a while since I've been on a cruise, and I've always been the type to just find a native taxi driver on the islands to take me where I want to go and "make my own" excursions rather than paying for them through the cruise line. My question is, has anyone had luck finding horseback riding on the beach on any of these islands? I do not want to pay for the excursion if I don't have to, but I will if there's no way to find it on my own once I get to the island.
