Bill was on our cruise last November. We, and a number of others, found him obliging, engaging and a very talented pianist. He has a fantastic music knowledge. We listened and talked to him most nights and had a great time

Bill was not on our August cruise as we had expected. I'm sorry to say the lady in his place was not good at all. Does anyone know whether we will have a replacement we can actually bear to listen to in October? I have the misfortune of having quite a musical ear and listening to discordant notes or wrong notes or out of tune singing actually hurts. I've never seen someone empty the living room when they came on as she did.

As you know Ann, I totally agree with your view on the current piano player on Journey. :( I really hope that Azamara listen to the feedback and we have someone different on our September cruise too.

However the good news is that Max di Faz is back on Journey on October 24th until March 2017, so the music will be restored!

That is great news Lottie - though I think I read I have 24 days of pain before Max arrives unless there is an earlier change based on feedback. I am not sure how many people on my cruise gave actual feedback as opposed to walked with their feet away from what were normally popular venues.

You may be right on the actual guest feedback Ann, as no-one likes giving really negative opinions on people...although I certainly felt strongly enough to give mine to the correct person, who was already aware of the problem.

However, Spirits was empty when she was playing, filled up when she was on a break and emptied again when she came back on. It was definitely noticed by the relevant management team, so maybe something will be done.

We are also on Journey now. Neither of the on board soloists (piano and guitar) are to our musical tastes. We normally spend a lot of time in cruises listening to the musicians. We normally gravitate towards live music. On this cruise, we are among the people that leave the venue after a few songs.

I am glad to hear that Azamara normally has some popular performers. As first time Azamara cruisers, we are seeing the music as the weak spot in an otherwise wonderful cruise.

Oh this is bad news. Does this mean she will be on our September 30th Journey cruise? Sigh. We too love live music and will seek it out before and after dinner, but avoid someone who sings off key or just plays badly. Too bad, my husband's god son is currently playing piano on a cruise ship in the Pacific. He's wonderful.

I can confirm normal service has been restored Max is back!!!

And I am now happily back drinking in Spirits :)

Glad to hear. If I got it right he will be onboard till march 2017?? If that's the case we need not worry for our upcoming January cruise. Have a great onward journey :D

We were on back to back cruises on Journey, September 23-October 7. The female piano player was on bot, and our displeasure was indeed recorded in our post cruise survey. Hope our June cruises will have someone different.

It’s been a few years since we cruised on Azamara. In the early days there was once a piano player who would sing in the Mosaic Café in the evenings which was lovely.... Then they moved the piano into the sports bar in the casino and I felt for the musician (usually Max Difaz) who had to compete with shouts of cheers from passengers when their favourite team scored a run/goal on the nearby TV screens.

Please tell me they have found somewhere more suitable for the piano as I love to go listen to them playing & singing after dinner.... we have just booked the Journey for Oct 2018. Will be curious to see what has changed since Oct 2013!!;)

It is still in Spirits Bar but Ed's style is not affected by the occasional call from the casino. They also switch the pianist and the guitar player round so sometimes the pianist is in the Looking Glass but then that means the disco takes over at 2230.

The female player never reappeared on Journey (phew). Max is evidently coming back to Journey when Ed goes on leave later this year.

I think there is a female piano player named Christine on Journey now, but thank goodness she isn't the woman pianist from 2016! We will be listening to her the week after next.

Max is leaving Quest for vacation at the end of October and I think Ed will be replacing him onboard.

Christine is the player in the band Eds in Spirits for this month and Max is replacing him in December

It's great news for me that Ed is on Journey this month. I love listening to him just as much as I do Max.

I just saw a FB video of White Night last week and Christine was playing piano, so I assumed (wrongly) that she was the piano player in Spirits on Journey at the moment, but you say she is in the band. She sounds very good anyway. :D

There was a pianist on Regent a few years back called Lyndon Davies who was the outstanding.

Friends saw him this year on RCI's Serenade of the Seas playing to packed audiences every evening.

When we saw him a few years back I always thought his talent and personality would be a great fit for AZ
