Default Just Want to let you CC folks Know the TIMESTAMPS are not working

And please don't tell me after the message, up top, to post "need help on this board, ask here!", a long unhelpful cut and paste that goes on each of the help posts.

I've even tried clicking MARK ALL THREADS READ under quick links, and nothing happens.

What do you mean by "time stamps"?

The CC clock is showing me the correct time, and I see threads automatically getting marked read as expected.

If it's not fixed for you, have you tried clearing your cookies in case it's a problem with a corrupted cookie on your machine? I think that the CC read/unread states may be partly done by cookies.

If you don't work in IT, it may not make sense to you. One displayed one, for you though, is your last visited, up top under your name.

In any case, it would be what runs the site, to know what threads you have read since your last visit. If the timestamps don't update, all the posts will remain in the same otder, regardless if anyone is posting.

I see it is fixed now.

Belay that. It's happening again.

Quite obvious something's wrong when you click on NEW POSTS, as well as seeing "Search index was updated 2 hours ago."

Of course, if you don't work in IT, you may not be accurately describing what you're referring to.

The "last visited" time displayed in the top right hand corner of the page shows the time of your last activity before your current login. So this "timestamp" won't update during your current session. This appears to be by design as it is how vBulletin behaves on a number of different forums which I use.

I've got a different problem which may be related to whatever MrPete is experiencing.

If I log in, the correct "last visited" time is initially displayed. However, within a minute or so, that login seems to be lost and the "last visited" time is replaced with the current time (suggesting that a second login has taken place). This, of course, resets all the read/unread flags so that everything appears to have been read.

Having worked in IT in the 80's....

The timestamp appears to move there two different ways. initial sign on, and using the feature "mark posts read".

An e-mail to Management is the correct way for all members to get their site feedback, questions, comments, concerns or suggestions about a situation to a more beneficial place. Posting them on the boards does no good as it is impossible for Management to read each post on each thread to see the site feedback, questions, comments, concerns or suggestions.

Please send your e-mail to the Community Manager LauraS at community@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record and include your user name. All e-mails to Cruise Critic are answered in the order received.

Who knows? Your e-mail to Management with your site feedback, questions, comments, concerns or suggestions about a situation may make a difference and be helpful to us all!!

It appears Laura is not subscribed to this thread or forum. As I mentioned before, please contact her directly via e-mail since it is impossible for Management to read each post on each thread to see the site feedback, questions, comments, concerns or suggestions.

Also, I notice the time of your last post here. Please note the Sticky posts titled Database Errors at 2am ET at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1198073 and titled Why can't I access the boards? - Daily Scheduled Board Maintenance at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1003838. And then, it appears the Announcement titled Delay in Postings Showing!! at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/announcement.php?f=163&a=323 may have something to do with it too.

For anyone who was reading this thread, I'm happy to say that this problem seems to have gone away with the maintenance work that was done a few days back - it hasn't happened to me again since then. So a thank you to the IT people for this.
