First time on QM2- Question about bars

It's my first time on any ship, and I'm taking the QM2 for a transatlantic crossing in September.

How does seating work in the restaurants and bars? Such as the Carinthia Lounge, Commodore Club, etc. Does one just sit down at an available place or are there hosts who seat you?

Sounds silly, but I have social anxiety, and these sorts of things make me nervous.

Thanks!

Just sit where you wish to in lounges & bars , just like most any cruise ship .

Cunard questions are best answered on the Cunard Forum . [emoji924

Like I said, this is my first time in any ship, so I wasn't sure how it works.

First, Welcome to Cruise Critic!

The previous poster is correct in his answer about seating in the public rooms. Be aware that QM2 has two Grill Classes and the Grill Lounge and open deck space is reserved for the guests having booked either a Queen's Grill or Princess Grill stateroom. (This should not bother you because of the plethora of other lounges available.)

Arriving for dinner at the Dining Room that first night, expect to have a staff member escort you to your assigned table, assuming you have fixed seating. Once you know where the table is on future evenings, there is no need to wait for an escort unless you wish to do so.

Having Breakfast or Lunch in the Dining Room, you will be escorted to a table once you have arrived at the Maitre d's stand.

Enjoy your crossing on QM2! She is a magnificent vessel.

Which sailing? We will be doing a TA Roundtrip - cruise M733B (roll call link) from 7 - 22 September. There are also 'roll call' threads for each way from Nw York, and the Southampton round trip.

The only fixed seating is for dinner (same table every night, with the same folks - unless you or someone else someone wants to try an alternative (Veranda, Kings Court, room service) for the evening.

We usually choose a table for six, and give things a couple of dinners to 'gel' before considering asking for a change - so far we have not needed to ask.

Sounds silly, but I have social anxiety, and these sorts of things make me nervous.

Thanks!

Mel, I hope you have a wonderful time! If you like trivia there is usually a trivia game afternoons in the Red Lion Pub, join in!

Have an afternoon tea in the Queen's Room!

Enjoy the planetarium and the lectures. I hope you have interesting speakers on your cruise.

There is so much to do during the cruise you might find it exhausting. When my Mom & I did a transatlantic we didn't have nearly enough time to do all the things we wanted.

I'm doing the September 7-14th portion of that trip. Thanks for the roll call list, I couldn't find it earlier!

Thank you for the suggestions! I've been slightly obsessed with this ship and am super excited to try as much as I can while still relaxing. I'm most excited about the library, Commodore Club, Planetarium, and high tea. I'm also planning a full day of relaxation, alone time, and room service.
