Default Go Chile to Argentina

We sailed around Cape Horn in January from Valparaiso, Chile to Buenos Aires on the Oceania Insignia. Everything we had heard and read told us to go in that direction. We had great weather and smooth seas.....it was very windy rounding the Cape.

Comfort really doesn't have much to do with it. It may be rough as a cob or smooth as glass. The Drake Passage/Cape Horn is one of the roughest, most notorious stretches of sea in the world.

You need to think whether you want to fly into Santiago or BA. Flying into Santiago from the US will result in a "reciprocity fee" at the Santiago airport. Was $100 for years, recently raised to $131.00. Good for the life of your passport-you pay for entry to Chile once-you can go back as often as you like.

Leaving from BA-cruises are generally priced slightly higher (just about the difference for the Chilean entry fee). Hotels are generally higher priced in BA.

Are you planning a pre or post cruise??? If you want to see Machu Pichu, you will find that very easy to accomplish with a cruise from Santiago.

Lots to think about.
