RCCL in port until midnight - why? And help!

RCCL has us in port from 1 until midnight in Nassau. At first, when we booked, they offered a sunset cruise which sounded wonderful, and then we thought we would all go to Senor Frogs for a few drinks and back on the ship.

However, they dropped the sunset cruise and have nothing available to book after 3:30 p.m.! Why would they put us in a port where they offer nothing to do for the majority of the time in port?

Does anybody have any ideas of what to do besides Senor Frogs? Most resorts want you out by 5, and I guess we could hang at Atlantis in the casino, but I have no idea what else to tell my group to do!

Help!

Thanks!

We were there until 2am once..happened to be formal night.....

In the morning, we did some excursion, then wandered about for a while. headed back to the ship to use the pool, got ready for dinner, and did the "formal" thing. After dinner, we went to Atlantis to gamble (in our finery!!), then back to the ship!

Have you checked into a private "sunset" sail? Google Bahamas activities.....you don't have to book through the ship!

When are you going? We are there in early Dec on the Enchantment and noticed the excursion is no longer available. It is not available privately either. Says it is only available thru July. The other sunset sails I found were aver $70 and included dinner which we don't need! I think we will just stay on the ship!

We are going on the January 24 Serenade of the Seas cruise. I have been reading reports of unsafe conditions and warnings and some of our group is staying onboard. Skipping the tours I was considering, and thinking of just staying close.

In the winter months, sunset is at 4:30/5pm.

The same boats that do the daytime snorkeling tours are the boats they use for sunset cruises. Since snorkeling boats don't come in until 4:30 or so, there' is no way to get them ready to reboard and in place for a sunset cruise.

It's pitch dark after 5pm.. and winter.

We will be on Serenade, same itinerary, March 21st (1:00 pm to 11:59 pm). Will be interested to know what you did in Key West and Nassau. Not worried about Key West but no idea what to do in Nassau. I don't want to stay onboard, especially since it will be our first visit there. Thanks for any info. :)

Check out Tru Bahamian Food Tours. A very nice young woman from Nassau takes you around to sample food, drinks, and chocolate at 5 or 6 locations around Nassau. It's a walking tour and was great fun!

Last year we were docked in Nassau until 11:59 as well. We too were undecided what to do. We ended up staying on the Enchantment and headed up to the Viking Crown Lounge after dinner. What a spectacular view of the city of Nassau from up there. My DH and I sat there for hours sipping wine and truly enjoying the sights. We switched seats a few times to get a view of Atlantis and all the lights, then moved to the other side of VCL to watch the people leaving Senor Frogs and staggering down the street. Enjoyable evening. Can't wait to do the same in 2 weeks :)
