Water shoes at Carambola or Shipwreck?

If going to Shipwreck I'd recommend water shoes. There is swimming side and a snorkeling side. The snorkeling side has a lot of sea urchins but I was only over in that area for a brief period of time and did notice some. We spent most of the day in the swimming side. Didn't notice any urchins but I did wear my crocs in the water, just in case. When my DH was in the water (swimming side), he was barefoot and didn't have any issues. Others were barefoot as well.

Carambola...not sure, but don't think water shoes are needed. We didn't get down there but have seen in many reviews that it's sandy in the water there.

We didn't use any water shoes at Carambola and the sand was great (hot, but great) and no issues in the water. I have reviews of Carambola and you can see what it's like there (and we also walked down and went in the water at ShipWreck and did find a lot of sea urchins in the snorkeling side). The reviews with tons of pictures are in my signature line if you are interested. :)

Can you tell me how far of a walk is it between Carambola and the swimming side of shipwreck? Thanks.

I can tell you how long it took us to walk there....16 minutes there and 14 minutes back (looking at the times I took all the pictures along the way). :D This included stopping for some selfies, trying to get pictures of the black sand against the brown sand, and even drawing words in the sand for pictures. ;)
