Hi all decided to post a short summary

We were on the last cruise before the Liberty moved to it's new home port of Port Canaveral.

Background: Ages 59+ I have cruise many times but brought a newbie with me.

I work as a travel agent and we booked this trip last November.

Trip: We flew from Boston the day before and stayed at the Holiday Port of Miami. I stay here all the time due to its proximity to the port. I used flyer miles to book my room. I got a room on an upper floor inside no view but for one night it was OK.

Went to Bayside had dinner.

To the ship: Left hotel in AM at 1030. We had FTTF so we boarded in front of the crowd. I went immediately to the shore excursion desk to get my Half Moon Cay cabana #11.I also booked a Behind the Fun tour for my newbie! Our cabin (cabin 9294 on Lido perfect location no cabin on the left only right)was ready dropped our stuff and went to lunch and explore. Luggage arrived about 3 or so unpacked and headed to life boat muster. It was pretty painless if you did not listen to the people complaining about how long it was and could they leave. Didn't want them in my lifeboat.

Sail away was fun... having sailed out of Miami many times it never loses its thrill! We were the couple with the bubbles during sail away everyone tried to figure out where they were coming from.

Dinner: Late after the show Pizza and hot dogs deck 9 aft. Also stop at the piano bar.

Day 2 Half Moon Cay.. Breakfast Lido with my favorite breakfast burrito (fond memories from Breeze) private cabana #11. Well stocked with fruit/veggies/salsa/chips drinks. Had mats/snorkel gear. Great day.

Dinner: Steakhouse... was very good but a little too gourmet. But good. We had ressies for 2 nights only went one. While at dinner a helicopter medivac'd someone who we heard had heat stroke and could not be stabilized. After dinner we went to the comedy show it was very good.

Day 3 at sea... pool time casino time ate at Mongolian Wok very good. Cruise elegant night saw all kinds of dress no tuxs though. Had a few pictures taken went to the MDR (anytime dining) for dinner.... it was somewhat disappointing. The service was not at all friendly or accommodating. I asked a ? they did not know the answer and did not take the time to check just lacking.

Day 4 St Thomas got off the ship early did some shopping ahead of our excursion. We picked the BOSS underwater scooter and snorkeling. The crew was great. Made everyone comfortable and safe. There were 35 on our trip out to Buck Island. In the protected cove we snorkeled while awaiting our turn. We were in the second group. Once our turn was up we were instructed to swim to our assigned scooter and wait for 1 of 4 divers in the water. I am extremely uncomfortable in the water and was very nervous. I followed the instructions and got my head into the bubble but was instantly panicked. I signals my diver I couldn't do it and resurfaced. I swam back to the boat and the captain was so patient and convinced me to try again. They brought the scooter to the boat and brought it up to the surface so I would feel more comfortable. I was also assigned my own diver who stayed with me. Once I relaxed I had fun. The day was gorgeous and being on the water was a treat.

Day 5 San Juan... we took a cab to El Moro. Spent the better part of exploring the fort. It is a UNESCO/ National Park. Great day with lots of pictures but very hot so take water and stay hydrated would be the best advise. We shared a cab going back and he dropped us off near the Sheraton. We went into the casino to cool off. I sat down at a 25 cent machine with 10 dollars and won 629.00 the highest payout.... I wasn't even sure how to play!

Day 6 was Grand Turk. We took and island tour... not much to see but interesting. Then returned to the beach for some swimming and relaxing.

Day 7 sea day pool time and relaxing.

We used luggage valet and put our bags out on Friday night picked them up in Boston. Worked like a charm 20.00 plus the airline fee well worth it to by pass the luggage pickup turntable.

Thoughts: Spent a lot of time on our balcony relaxing/reading. Was quiet even though we were on Lido. Like the FTTF privileges esp. tendering early and special line at pursers desk. Piano Bar was fun. The main shows were great. The cruise director Brittany was on Breeze last year didn't see much of her but thats OK. The comedy shows were very popular and were very good. Four comedians for the week. The staff in general was eager to please. It did not seem crowded at all the only lines were for omelets and the Mongolian Wok. We went to the MDR only one night and used the buffet/burger shack and cantina mostly. We had coffee delivered a couple mornings and it was very quick. The ship was very clean. The one thing I will say is Carnival has to work on their dessert they were just mediocre. We had warm melting cake in the MDR which was good and the desserts in the steakhouse were very good but the rest really lacked flavor and were dry. Lastly, we had a great time and will sail again soon. Might give NCL Getaway a shot! If anyone has any ??? I would be happy to answer them.
