I am a Canadian with my brother and his family being American. Ignorance exists in both countries. And will continue to exist if we show an attitude of intolerance.
Yes, I have. Are you ignorant? The mob that drove the American fans out of Vancouver. Sadly Canadian T.V. probalby didn't show it. You do KNOW they practise censorship don't you?

I'm proud to admit I'm an EX canadian. I KNOW what you Canadians won't admit... you want so badly to be American you pretend you are pissed...we Americans are the ones who are pissed that we have to put up with you and your crap.

And how do I know it? Because I grew up there. I KNOW the hatred you Canadians show towards Americans. And you know it to. Canadians are the best, or worst, at keeping the secret.

Stay in your own county .... we are getting pissed at you people and your bitching.

I find it quite ironic that in a thread of posters voicing their complaints about rude people they've come across, that quite a few of the posts have also been rude towards specific groups of people. People in wheelchairs/scooters, people with strollers, people that shop at Walmart, Canadians, Americans. All said with rudeness and generalizing.

Sure, there are some folks who are in wheelchairs, who shop at walmart, who are canadian or american that ARE indeed rude. But not all of them are. And i would hazard a guess that the folks that are rude, would be rude regardless of whether they're in a wheelchair or what nationality they are. Time to focus on the individual people and not a specific category they happen to be in.

BTW, i don't necessarily agree with speaking up against the rude folks/line jumpers etc. If you want to, feel out the person first. If you think they might be confrontational, don't do it. Confronting them isn't going to change them and quite easily could put yourself in a bad situation. I have rarely found a rude person who, when it's pointed out to them, says "oh my bad. thanks for pointing out my rudeness." Instead, i get, "mind your $%(%Q business."

As long as i continue to hold open doors, be courteous to others and do my part, then that's all that matters to me. Sure it ticks me off when i see rude people, but i figure they'll get what's coming sooner or later.

Just when I thought I have read rude and ignorant posts, one like yours pops up.
But hey, Carnival attracts those who are self-centered and totally unconcerned about their fellow passengers.
Scooter folks are all just overeaters, piggies?
Tell that to those who are ravaged by cancer & MS & heart disease, those who have broken bones & spinal disorders.
Better watch out guy, instant Karma's gonna get you!

We really need a like button on this site! Every time we plan a trip, someone has to say "You don't want to go THERE. The people there hate Americans. are rude etc" . We have never found this to be the case.
Some cultures don't stand in line, have different perceptions of personal space etc. But MOST people are not rude.
I'm 4'10" and have similar problems to people in wheelchairs & kids. People overlook us because we are or they can pretend we are not in their visual field. I've been elbowed in the head, stepped on & ignored by service people. If an "Excuse me, the line start back there" doesn't work, I've been known to just step in front of them. There are advantages to being "invisible"
Rudness and berating other posters seems to have become a pastime for some on these boards recently. We need to clean up our own house first.

I think we're all just venting, but apparently some find the snappish complaining to be rude. I didn't notice anyone who said that ALL people in scooters or wheelchairs, or pushing strollers are rude. Can't address the Canada vs US issue, I have never had animosity towards anyone because of where they are from, even if it's said that "they" hate Americans. Everyone gets their individual chance to make an impression.

Walmart is discussed a great deal, but I find the rudest people when I shop at Costco (or Sam's Club, depending on where you live). And in shopping malls in general, I am always stunned when a group of people just stops in the middle of the aisle together, instead of moving aside. I don't think it's malicious rudeness, just kinda clueless

I accidentally line-jumped once and a guy spoke up. I apologized, and tried to explain myself. It was at a deli, and it was hard to tell where the line was (those who were waiting to order and those who had ordered and were waiting for their food). The guy was still cranky, and I felt bad, but it was not deliberate. Obviously most of the time it's easy to tell where the end of the line is....

Unfortunately I can't imagine that any human being can say that they have *never* been rude. Yes, I speak up; although I didn't address the issue here, of course I "feel out" the situation. Sometimes I try to show my sense of humor, sometimes neutral, other times I get cranky and/or rude myself. I tend to treat people the way they treat me. That too, is human nature, doesn't mean I'm proud of it!
