Default Disney Magic Cozumel activity: 3 Reef Snorkel Trip?

Magic Western Caribbean cruise stops at Cozumel. One of the activities booked via the ship is called 3 Reef Snorkel. Has anyone here ever done that? How was it? Would you recommend it?

I have this excursion booked two weeks from now. I liked it because it sounded simple - go out on a boat and snorkel, that's it! Not much room for error there. Anyway, unless you are going sooner than I am, I will let you know how it is when I return.

I've done this excursion on a different trip to Cozumel - it was the first time I had ever snorkeled, actually. Generally speaking I think it was a pretty solid deal - because its ocean snorkeling there's the possibility of some wave action and currents. The reef got beat up a few years ago in a hurricane and so "reef balls" have been placed throughout where you'll snorkel as a sort of replacement reef to help build it back up. Still saw lots and lots of fish. I have fond memories of the experience. Plus lots of free soft drinks (and beer) aboard the boat on the way back to shore.

Thanks for your feedback, that helps. It will be my first time snorkeling, also. Stupid question.... I can swim, of course, but I'm not the strongest swimmer. Do they make any kind of floaty thing or life jacket available?

You'll be given an inflatable vest for snorkeling along with the mask and snorkel. Like pretty much every snorkeling excursion I've ever taken in the Caribbean (and I've been on a few now), wearing a flotation device is mandatory. If you were a strong swimmer or have a couple in your family who might be, they can choose to not blow it up fully. That will allow them to be able to dive underwater along with the divemaster leading the tour.
