A lot of people are expecting a market correction this summer but by the end of March? I don't think so.

UPDATE:

My prediction that the stock price would fall below $33.00 on or before 3.31.13 was off by 4 days and 11 cents.
CCL stock closed on Thursday 4.4.13 at $33.10 per share.

I sold all my 600 shares right after I heard the fire. Sure will buy some back before my next cruise. But I am still watching.

So, how much money did you make by shorting it back when you first made your prediction and covering on 4/4/13? If zero, than that is exactly what your prediction/conviction was worth.

IMO this type of situation is dangerous for amateur/casual investors. Too much emotion. Not much discussion on earnings, etc. etc. Nobody asked but again IMO there much better stocks/sectors to buy than cruise lines.

No on knows for sure where it will go, but it has been an excellent stock for years, offers a decent dividend, and if you cruise regularly can provide even more $$ in OBC,

Kevin C
Price now is $33.74.
It seems to have dropped as low as $33.10 after the "incidents". We bought 100 more around $34. Wish we'd have waited until $33.50, but didn't know the bottom at the time, obviously! lol!

I love watching the stock. It, as well as other stocks we own, are on my iphone, where I can check at a glance. We book 2 rooms and now have 200 shares, so we get OBC for both. Frankly, I feel it is a safe stock. It will fluctuate, but I don't see it going bankrupt. Knock on wood!

I am not suggesting to anyone that they purchase or sell CCL stock.

I am simply pointing out that my original prediction made and posted on 2.13.13 [that CCL stock would fall below 33 bucks as a result of Triumph] came very close to being correct.

I consider the stock market to just another form of gambling and - like anyone else - like it when I'm right and/or win.

How many shares do you need to own to get OBC ? And how much OBC?

So, if I call our Investment Company and tell them we want Carnival stock, they can take care of it?

The price you're all quoting is per share, correct?

Good question Purple Dog, I'd like to know that too. Also wondering if I bought the appropriate amount of stock now, can I get the on board credit for my upcoming May 16 cruise?

Not even close. Now if you had also predicted Dream, Elation, Legend, a Sunshine delay, Triumph Parts 2 and 3, etc., you might have something.

But call it was it was - dumb luck, mostly bad, and on the part of Carnival.

Let Google be your friend. What I saw was $100 OBC for a 7-day cruise if you own 100 shares.

PLEASE don't let this menial offer be the deciding factor in purchasing this stock. Do your homework. Spending $3300 plus commission now to get $100 OBC that you can use to buy a 12-pack of domestic beer (or equivalent)? Ridiculous.

It all depends on if you regularly invest. $3000+ is a lot to spend to get 100 OBC. On the other hand, if you invest anyway, it's toward the low end, so it will likely go up. Our plan is to enjoy the OBC for a decade or so and watch the stock grow. So far, so good for us. Our first 100 shares were less than $30, so we are already up and we are about to get our 3rd $100 OBC on our original $100. It is working for us!

I invested $3000 a little over a year ago and have received $150 in dividends, $1000 in OBC, and the stock has grown over $350 since I bought it.

I wouldn't call that Ridiculous !!! Would you?

"Almost" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Hey Purple - Can you predict the next Carnival catastrophe (or at least the next incident that the media calls a catastrophe) ?

Now that would be impressive !
