Late August

We will be there August 30 with our 14 and 16 year old and it will be out first time there. I was thinking of the tour with Bernard's that includes the 1.5hr stop at Orient Beach. Just wondering if this is a good option or would be be oppressively hot. Basically we want to see a few sites and check out the lanes at Maho,

I think you have a good plan. St Martin is not all that hot with the trade winds that it gets. It rarely is as high as 90 degrees F even in August.

it's not the heat but the water beach conditions that I would be a little concerned about in the end of August. I would probably follow the Hurricane center to see what storms are around or on their way before I left. As a rule while visiting in the summer we find the eastern or Atlantic side a little too rough for us. It may be fine on your day but I think that it is something to be aware of.
