We have only been on one cruise on Hal, and today received a letter from the Players club of Hal. It says we have VIP status with Club 21, and offfers a special cruise rate and several other amenities for a 7 day Alaska cruise. Does anone have experience with Club 21, and are the rates usually better?

You must have dropped a fortune in their casino. We gamble quite a bit on cruises and after 8 with HAL we were invited to join Club 21. I guess it depends on who the Casono Host is and if they pay attention to your play to be invited. I don't know about their rates compared to regular cruise rates but I know they have special cruises and they give you perks while on board (free slot play, drinks, etc.)

Club 21 is having a VIP sailing May 4th on the Eurodam out of Rome. They usually have 4 different cruises a year. Depending on your casino rating depends on the discount that you get. The minimum discount I believe is 10%. This year they had Mexico in February, the Europe trip in May, the Alaska trip in August and a Carribbean trip in November.

Usually they will have from 40 to 100 members per cruise.

Just call the number on the invite and they will let you know the discount that you get.

We did a Club 21 trip once and got a Verandah Room for a REALLY good price, as long as you get registered early enough. DH had a good time, drank for free as long as he was in Casino but one perk - priority boarding. That was nice. It was a good cruise over all - met some neat people.

Right - Laminator!!!

Previous Cruises:

Alaska - Westerdam - September 2009

Alaska- Rotterdam - September 2010

Mexican Riveria - Oosterdam - April 2011

We've been Club 21 members for years. They offer plenty of incentives and free cash to play with in the casino. Since we've joined the club we never pay for a cocktail or soda in the casino. Yay!

They do offer some truly good cabin prices on their theme cruises.

You are correct Okie. As you know Laminator always has a good time and with you we had a better time.

Anyone know how much $$ you have to drop to be a casino VIP? I'm a bit risk adverse, so it's probably more than I'd be comfortable gambling!

I think it may be more important to continually chat with the host on the cruise. They seem to make the determination. Depending on the level of the player you are determines the offer you get. Some players get a discounted cabin and cash. Some players get a free cabin and cash. It all depends.

We got a save the date e-mail from HAL and Club 21 recently. It is for November 10 on the Eurodam. No other details - said those would be coming in our invitation. Looking forward to seeing the offer.

This is the first time I've heard of Club 21 discounts... our last 16 cruises have been on Zuiderdam and Noordam. We gamble 4-5 hours every night, win or lose A LOT, tip very heavily, know most of the dealers by name, and always make friends with the Casino Manager and Host. We have NEVER received any kind of email or recognition from Club 21

Candy, to actually join the Club 21 you ask the casino manager for an application. It is worth it if you gamble. The amount of cash you get each cruise is based on what you spent last cruise.

Our next cruise we will be given a total of $800 in cash to spend at the casino. There is an 800 # to call when you are booked and they tell you how much you will get. Once onboard just go the the casino cage and introduce yourself and they hand you cash. It's pretty cool I must admit.

I won almost $2000 on a dollar machine on last cruise and have received an invitation for the August Alaska cruise. Can't take advantage of it as we are sailing to Alaska on June 2nd. Don't know how much I lost/won total. Free play and drinks would be nice.

Gees, maybe I should gamble more, sounds like a good deal, free cocktails or soda, sign me up.

Thanks, kakalina... I have actually signed the form a number of times, and each time the cashier couldn't find the last one. I visited OPC online and called the 888 number for HAL. The agent looked up my 'account' and found I have $150 credit which I can pick up on my next cruise. She took my new booking number and said it will be ready for me. I don't know how the credit is calculated, and HAL's tables are not computerized to verify anything. If the supervisor doesn't catch how much you bring to the table, they miss a lot. I wonder if Jim will get his own credit?

I never filled out an application, just played in the casino on the last cruise. Didn't spend a ton (thanks to some nice wins) so was surprised to see the "save the date" e-mail. Still have not received the invitation though.

thank you and hope you can help me, I recently returned from fifteen day Pacific Island Cruise on Nordam, loved it. Received a letter from Club 21 saying I need to book another before 4th Feb, PROBLEM I rang the number only to be told it is non existent. Suspect it is an American Number and I am in Australia. So how do I go about it. Frustrating,. By the way LOVED the cruise

Candy I have only done four cruises, the second last one was with another cruise line, P. & O. and I won a free cruise for two with balcony suite and yes it is booked for April, then the last one, just home, I had a letter from Club 21 offering me an Interior Stateroom. I am yet to contact them so hope it is legit. However I cannot travel in an interior Stateroom so would happily pay balance to have a large porthole or balcony. Cannot understand why you have not had an offer but think Club 21 is from Casino.
