Yacht Club on the Seaside wirh kids

Just booked the Yacht Club on the Seaside and we have two teenagers. Will it be too stuffy, dress code, et al? Also is it like NCLs haven suites. With the pricepoint, promotions, and teacher discount it could not be beat. Thanks.

Yacht Club on MSC Divina isn't stuffy so I can't imagine the YC being that way on MSC Seaside. Dress code during the day is cruise casual,,shorts, flip flops,,etc. For dinner, no shorts, tank tops or flip flops are allowed in any of the dining rooms,,,:D

I have to be honest. I was torn between changing our suite to YC for impeccable service, privacy, less people and definitely no children. Sooooo many posts lately about kids in the YC and I am very glad I did not pay the extra $$$ for it. I may be a rarity, and I am truly sorry...I have children and grandchildren, but I envisioned "grown ups only" in the YC. Glad I did not spend the extra $$$.

To each his own and we vacation as a family. Not all kids are brutish and nasty creatures, just the same with adults. As a matter of fact rude adults have tried to rain on my vacation more than children, besides we were all kids at one point. The price difference for my family was about 350, so it seemed a no brainer.

Awesome, we usually sail Disney and Carnival and I assumed it would be similar. Its that all lines have quirky rules. Thank you.

I thought that, but the Seaside is a ship designed for American markets, I bet it would be in between Disney and Carnival. As long as slacks and a polo/Hawaiian shirt are fine we will be ok. How are the service and drinks in the Yacht Club.

I'm so glad someone said this. When I've heard thread about bringing strollers into the YC Dining Room and babies throwing food etc. my heart sunk a little. I guess I just hope that if there are any kids on my cruise in YC they're the well-behaved type.

You'd think that parents of kids who are unwilling to sit through a meal and who are the screaming banshee type would have the sense not to book YC out of respect for their fellow passengers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we have fairly quiet and respectful children in YC!

And I'll also say that I'm not a child-hater - I have nieces and nephews who I care very much for. I just wouldn't want children of my own and prefer to have a more adult experience on holiday where possible.

Don't really think you have much to worry about. Been in YC a number of times and NEVER had any screaming children. There have been children on board, but you'd hardly know. As for dinner, you'll find that most (not all) people with children go early. Honestly no need to worry, its so quiet and so peaceful, but fun just the same. Relax and have a great time.

You will have lots of European passengers on Seaside . You will be fine with slacks for casual night but differently bring at least jacket for formal nights.

When my second youngest was 1 I took her to a Michelin Star restaurant with her 3 and a half year old sister. The faces on the other guests was PRICELESSS!!!! After 2 and a half hours eating there wasn't 1 scream or cry.

Yes, why not? Main reason why MSC departs from port at 7 p.m. because lot's of people flight overseas.

Parents with those screaming banshee kids should take them to Buffet to eat. This is what we did when our one year old DD did not want to seat in DR . I am a parent who take my kids any place and any restaurant .My DD love good meal and gourmet food but if kid screams in restaurant or run around he should not be there.

If children are acting out, they should be removed. Whats more surprising is the sense of entitlement. Families have paid their fare the same as everyone else and if the presence of children ruins your vacation, then you'll just have to stop acting like a spoiled child and grow up.

I have no issue with well behaved and quiet children being in high-end venues. None at all. However, there is a sense of entitlement for parents who are happy to let their screaming children ruin everyone else's experience because they won't remove their child from a situation in which they are clearly unhappy. Parents become immune to the noises of their children.

I have the same opinion if I'm not on a cruise too. If you want to take your kids to the cinema or a restaurant or somewhere where people want to enjoy the quiet, you need to be willing to remove your child and calm them down so as not to interrupt others' experience. If they can't or won't calm down then you should leave. It's the risk you take when you have children - you have to be respectful of other people.

This is exactly how the parents of all fo the kids in my life behave. They'll expose their kids to new experiences but will remove them from the situation if they become disruptive. They know their kids' tolerance for various situations and will avoid those situations where their kids misbehave.

Of course, the venue itself is a big determining factor on what an appropriate level of noise is. If I go to Walt Disney World for a couple of weeks I know that I'm going to have a holiday where there are a lot of children making noise and running around - it's Disney World! I go expecting that, and I don't object to it.

The simple presence of children doesn't offend me at all. It's badly behaved children with oblivious parents that I find frustrating.

Families have paid the same money and I have no problem with them enjoying the facilities offered, but if their kids can't handle a particular venue without acting up (a long meal in a restaurant, for example - that must be boring as hell for young kids) then parents need to accept that these situations aren't appropriate until their kids are a little older.

I agree,I encountered a few very rude people in Europe during my vacation...it was older nasty adults....never a rude encounter with any children and the Orchestra was full of them. My encounters were limited to the tours and airports...I didn't have any rude encounters on the ship itself.

Totally agree. Booked on Seaside 5/5/18 hoping kids are still in school and not in YC.

Sure, and as I said in my post if the kids are suited to such a venue then (at least in my opinion) they're more than welcome.

But surely you wouldn't force your screaming kid to sit in a fancy restaurant at the discomfort of the child and everyone around you?

If I had any sort of say in the matter then I'd make Yacht Club adults only, but I don't so I think it's fair to expect a little common sense and courtesy from parents who choose to book there. Bring your kids if you want, but if they start acting up you need to withdraw to your stateroom to allow them to calm down.
