Self Walking Tour of OSJ

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We trying to find out some info for this self walking tour in the link below.

http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/old-san-juan-walking-tour-1

We are in San Juan 7:00 - 3:30.

1. Can both parts of this tour be done at a reasonable walking pace?

2. If only part 1 is doable, what is the most direct/best way back to port (Carnival)?

3. Would there be time to tour the Fort?

4. Suggest for a place to stop for lunch?

Thanks in advance.

El Morro is really cool. And old san juan is small so you can walk around very easily. I lived in PR for 2 years in the early 90's and loved it there. Make sure you try some of the Puerto Rican cuisine. Its very very yummy.

We recently did this and it was great fun! I don't see mention of the

"hop on hop off" busses which make it easier to see more things. Get your maps from the Tourist Bureau first and then either take the bus or a cab to the fort. It's worth the time to tour it well. Then we walked to the museums and art galleries we wanted to see. We left OSJ in time to find

The Parrot Club for a relaxing lunch. Loved that place! Getting back to the Port depends on where your ship is docked. It could be right down the street from lunch (downtown) or a ways away. I'm sure they can tell you onboard. Have a blast! We loved San Juan - even in the rain!

So your day went like... taxi to Fort, tour Fort, then walked back stopping at museums, galleries, etc. Had lunch at Parrot Club. Return to ship.

Approx. how long did that take?

Hey,

We didn't start 'til @ 9am. Spent 2 or 3 hours at the fort - and could have spent more. There are several museums in that area, so we spent a good

deal of time there. We took our time with lunch and then browsed in the

shops and on the waterfront of downtown. Probably got back by @ 5pm.

I thought we got a good sense of both the "old" and the "new" cities.

Hope that helps~
