Miami Cruise Port to Hotel Near Amtrak Train Station

Howdy

We are looking for a hotel nearby the Amtrak train station. My Father-in-law is taking the train after his cruise and asked me to find him a hotel near the train station. I am looking for a nice hotel in the area. Has anyone made this type of connection? What is your recommendation?

The train station is north of the MIA airport; I would chose a nicer area near the MIA airport (Blue Lagoon - Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites, etc.) and use a taxi or Uber to get to the station. Alternative is to stay downtown and take a longer taxi/Uber to get to your train.

There are no "nice" hotels near the Amtrak station, as the area itself is rather dismal.

Look for a hotel in Downtown Miami near POM or the Blue Lagoon area near MIA.

Many thanks for your replies! I was a little bit concerned about hotels in the area of the amtrak station, as the train stations are not located in the nicest parts of town. I will go ahead and probably search for something nearer to the airport.

Some of the MIA airport hotels are also in terrible locations. Check back here before you book.

My $.02, If you are sailing from the Port of Miami, going north to Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale Stations might be

a better, more efficient choice than going all the way west to the Blue Lagoon area.

What is your opinion of the LaQuinta, Miami Airport East? They also have a free shuttle to the port before departure.

As long as you don't plan to go outside after dark, it's OK. I suggest you check Blue Herons' blog for suggestions.
