Are you allowed to bring your own water and soda that is not available onboard? Also do they still allow you to bring 2 bottles of wine?

You can bring on as much soda and water as you like. Each passenger of drinking age is permitted to carry on 1 x 750ml bottle of wine at no charge for use in your cabin. If you bring that bottle to any public area including a DR it is subject to a $15 corkage fee. Additional bottles can be carried on and are subject to a $15 corkage fee at boarding. These bottles are marked and can be used anywhere on the ship without additional charge.

Regarding water if you really want water check out the water package in the cruise personlizer. The prices per bottle are pretty low.

While you can bring on water the pre cruise package of 12 bottles for $6.00 (6.90 with gratuity) really makes carrying the water not worth it. Remember that this must be ordered precruise and is not available on board.

Yes. Princess also sells 12 packs of water @ $6.90 which will be in your cabin upon arrival.

Must be purchased pre cruise only through your booking online.

You can buy water onboard but it's more expensive.

We always order the water package before boarding the ship. We use the bottles for shore excursions as it is much easier than carrying our own water bottles. When we finish the water, we just toss the bottle. We also bring on one bottle of wine for every day we are on the cruise. The first two bottles are free but the rest we pay $15/bottle before boarding the ship. You can also bring more wine on the ship at each port again subject to the $15 fee.

What is the brand of the water they use for the water package? DH is particular and says some taste different than others.

On the Star in January from LA it was Niagara filtered water for the 12-pack of 0.5 liter bottles; purchased onboard bottles were Crystal Geyser spring water but were much more expensive than the pre-ordered 12-packs for $6.90.

As Colo wrote it can vary by port but it was Niagara for our cruise.

If wine is purchased at a port and brought onboard how is the $15 charged. Does the security area have the ability to charge your cruise card? Just curious as to how this works.

Thanks.

So if we go to a winery on a shore excursion and bring a bottle on board it will be $15 ?

The only ones that are free are the first one you bring at embarkation?

It "depends". Most likely you won't be charged. We've brought wine onboard from an excursion and others from the same excursion also brought wine aboard (everybody got a bottle as part of the excursion) and nobody on the ship said a thing. Embarkation rules don't necessarily apply at ports other than embarkation. If you were to bring a case onboard they might well take it and store it until the last day of the cruise but I've never tried bringing a case aboard at a port stop.

We were on a ship excursion in Ensenada to several wineries. At the last one we were all given a bottle of wine which we carried back onto the ship without any problems. We took the bottles to our room and opened them later. Unfortunately the wine was not even as good as Boone's Farm! We poured the bottles down the drain. So much for "free" wine.
