Ah...I spoke too soon....

SOME holiday 2016 itineraries are open but not the one we want! Should be by Monday though. We want to do the holiday S. America and Antarctica holiday ~20 days on the Zaadam.

We need the weekend it figure out what to do so it is all good. The Canadian $ is 30% lower right now than the American $. That cannot be ignored. But more importantly is if I can do the cruise as I have had vertigo since May 5 non-stop. I can not work, drive and some days cannot even get out of bed.

So big decisions to be made this weekend!

I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I hope it gets resolved and your choice of cruise gets posted. Fingers crossed.

I can't find them on the website: not in the booking drop down, ebrochures or destination tabs. Is it usual for these to become available to TAs before they are on the website?

I am thinking that must be it. But I did get another email when the TA checked the specific sailing we want and it is not open until Monday. She said some are open so she must have assumed they all were when she send the initial email.

The Canadian dollar is depressing right now :( I hope you figure out how to live with it so you can do this cruise. As for the vertigo, BIG sympathy. My late DH had Meniere's Disease and it took a long time to get him effective treatment. Best wishes, whatever the cause of yours!

Keeping fingers crossed for our dollar.

So sorry your vertigo is sticking with you. If I could find a way to PM or email you, I can tell you what OTC vitamin helped DH. he had menders disease and labrynthitis. had to actually use a wheelchair for a few days...... terrible. If you feel so inclined, email or PM me and I will let you know.

Thank you all for your concern over my health. I am humbled by your comments; thank you. The last 3.5 months have been very difficult. I do have Menieres but it seems there is something else going on. I should know more in early September but have to wait until December until I can be assessed in a vestibular laboratory.

Hope you get to cruise soon!

I have a friend who has Menieres and it was diagnosed with shingles in the inner ear and it caused BIG problems. She had to take medical leave from work and eventually she exhausted all of her leave and lost her job. She is now seeking disability and she is only 51. Hoping yours is not this severe.

1of 4 -

Actually the South America/Antarctica cruise on Zaandam that sails on December 20, 2016 has been available to book for awhile now, at least in the States.

Sorry to hear about the vertigo. It must have started at the end of your Westerdam cruise or shortly thereafter? Have you tried taking meclizine (e.g., Bonine, non-drowsy Dramamine, Antivert, etc.)? It helped me tremendously but obviously everyone's different in how they respond (and of course talk with your doctor before trying it if you haven't already done so). Fingers crossed that they figure out what's going on sooner than later and get it under control. There's nothing worse.

Thanks Barb. That is very strange as I tried to find it on Friday and it didn't show up. My TA is in the USA and she said it wasn't open either and she contacted HAL. So I don't know what is going on. I get the December 10 2016 and then it skips to January 2017.

I am sure it isn't a sell out, or I hope not!

I am one of the rare people who can not metabolize some vitamins so I am very careful about the vitamins I can take. I am on medical leave from work and have been to two specialists and my family doctor too many times to count. 3 MRIs later we are closing in on one issue. So I am trying to be patient and wait for the results.

The middle of December opened up yesterday or today. I'm referring to the Christmas and New Year's cruises. You're absolutely correct about the missing holiday sailings.

I am in Canada, viewing the HAL Canadian site, and I am not a travel agent, and I can plainly see that Zaandam December 20 cruise now available for booking.

Nope, definitely not a sell out - all categories available and I'm sure most, if not all, will still be available this time next year based on the fact that all categories still show availability for the Holiday 2015 sailing (we're booked on it so I've been watching).

And my bad - it was Seabourn that's had their 2016 holiday Antarctica itinerary available for awhile now. :o Hey, a girl can dream, right? LOL

I am sorry to hear of your health problems. This must have hit as soon as you returned from your canal cruise. I hope your doctors can find how to cure or alleviate your problems.
