Nothing but a Breeze.....

The wife and I are long time resort people, but wanted to try something different this time...decided on a cruise...our first one, on the Carnival Breeze. We won't be totally lost as we are travelling with another couple who have gone on several cruises.

I've looked through all the tips and tricks...like to be prepared. But wouldn't mind hearing from those who can add more...especially if you have been on the Breeze.

Also, wouldn't mind hearing from those who are about to go on the Breeze...especially if its on March 1 of this year.

Thanks for any help.

You picked a great ship to start out on!

There are tons of activities and different food options available. As I tell friends who haven't ever cruised: If you are bored on hungry on a cruise ship, it's your fault!

One of my favorite places to eat is the Cucina del Capitano. It's free for lunch, and dinner has a different menu. For an extra $12 per person (and well worth it, in my opinion), you get a fantastic meal. The fried risotto ball appetizer is simply divine!

You may wish to look for your specific roll call, as that way you can set up activites, etc. with people going on your specific cruise.

Have fun!

Many thanks...I found the roll call for this cruise. We're excited. The wife loves to eat...and I do too.

You will have a wonderful time, the Breeze is a beautiful ship. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on her in November. We tried alot of the restaurants (steakhouse, MDR, Guy's, Blue Iguana, Taste Bar, Italian place) and I have to say our favorite by far was the steakhouse, so if you want to splurge a little it is well worth it! I was not impressed with the Italian restaurant, but it was a nice enough change. The burgers were great, and so were the burritos. Hint: if you want something different for breakfast, try the Blue Iguana! The lines were very short, so it was much nicer than the buffet! Also, try the sea day brunch, it is great! We wished we had had more than 2 sea days so we could try some of the different items on the menu. We were not impressed with Fat Jimm'y BBQ, it was NOT worth the wait in line, but that is just our opinion. The water slides were a blast, we both went down them multiple times, but Twister was much better than the Drain Pipe one. We also enjoyed the mini golf. The Production Shows were decent, our favorite was Motor City when they took the party out into the Atrium for dancing.

All in all, I would love to sail on Breeze again. You will have a fantastic cruise!

We are long time all inclusive resort people as well, we have been going to all inclusive resorts for the past 12 years, so last August we tried a cruise it was at The Breeze, we had a great time, There is definitely more do to on the SHip if you want to do it, the entertainment at night is much better then any A.I resort we have been to, I thought although we have always gotten great service at the resorts that the service on the ship was above and beyond, i could not beleive it, of course your cabin is much smaller then a room at the resort but I was amazed how well laid out it is and what great use of space theymake, we are not in the cabin long, We had a Cove Balcony and loved it, the food was far superior on the ship then any resort even the best a la carte at the resorts, We are food people and we loved it, especially dinner in the MDR, we are not fancy people but loved the food and service, yes you have to pay for your drinks but we are not big drinkers, and you are off the ship 3 or days at port, The only thing I really missed was the big pool on sea days, the pools are so small and packed so you can squeeze in for a cool off but that is it, We are booking another cruise for our family for August just debating The Breeze or The Glory

I forgot to mention the Red Frog Pub. My wife and I hung out there quite a bit. Their pub food snacks, even with a $3.33 charge, were good, especially the wings.

The ThirstyFrog Red beer is quite tasty, and one of the "adult beverages" I tended to have the most.

My wife went to a 5 star resort in Mexico and let me tell you, we were bored out of our minds. The food was crap, hot dogs for lunch and than on the pizzas was hot dogs. I love cruising. So much to do, food is excellent and you go to so many more places than on a resort.

Here are some things we enjoyed doing on our family cruise in May 2013.

On sea days for lunch they have soup and salads in the Ocean Plaza on deck 5. It was nice to listen to the the trivia, have bar service, and snack. Guy's and the Tandoori was other locations we loved for lunch.

We did try the brunch a couple of times and I loved the filet and eggs. My DH liked the Caesar Salad with Jerk Bacon. Another time I tried a pasta with mushroom sauce. It was very good. I think I have read on here that they have since changed the sauce. The Bloody Mary bar was a nice touch.

On the first sea day they have a cooking demonstration in the Fahrenheit 555. When we went it was about 11:30 a.m. They also give you small samples. :D

Some nights they have Dive-In movies at the Seaside Theatre on lido deck. They have popcorn and blankets in case you get to cold. Since we were on a family cruise our two boys and DH watched from the pool and I watched from a lounge chair while drinks were being served from the Red Rum Bar and Blue Iguana.

On our cruise there was a young man named Timmy who would play his guitar in the Red Frog Pub, Red Rum bar, and Blue Iguana. There was also a band called Love Souljaz that played all over the ship. My family enjoyed the live music.

On a side note we had the Cheers program so we tried a variety of new drinks that we would have been afraid to try. I like that aspect of the program and would get it again just because my DH has sticker shock every time he sees the price of each drink. It kind of gave us that all inclusive feel. :D

If you like Sushi try Bonsai. Very good sushi. Costs around $6 per roll. They have some other items too on the menu.

OMG yes!! My daughters and I split the Sushi boat, so good, and so worth it, I agree!

But honestly this really is a great ship, so much so we're sailing on it again this April...I mean the ship itself is beautiful, and spacious. Love all the many different places to eat and relax. Plenty to do whether you like to dance, gamble , shop, catch a movie, people watch yes I could go on and on .And the staff, no complaints they were great...Put it this way my brother inlaw who had never been on a cruise swore he"d never go on one.. Well his wife's friend backed out of going and well it was paid for so my brother inlaw sucked it up and went...yeah lets just says when he told me one night at the casino bar" don't tell my wife but I am really having a great time" I knew it, he was hooked!! And now they are cruising with us Again this yr!!

The Breeze is an awesome ship, a week was not enough time for me to do everything I wanted!

The Tandoor Grill is only open during lunch, so keep that in mind if you want to try Indian cuisine. It was a little spicy for me, but that's a plus for most people. Guy's burgers were ok (I am not a burger expert) but the fries were the BEST! I also recommend the steakhouse, it is amazing.

I meant to try the Red Frog pub food but didn't get a chance. If you purchase the Red Frog and/or Blue Iguana Tervis Tumbler with a drink, you will get a 16 oz drink for the price of a 12 oz drink when you re-use your cup.

I paid for a spa pass so I could use the facilities all week $149 for one person, $249 per couple. For ME it was worth it, the thalassotherapy pool is wonderful, and the heated tile lounge chairs are more comfortable than they look. If you're in a spa cabin, it's already included in the price. Since I paid separately, they gave me a plastic wrist-band when I visited each day.

I didn't go to any of the shows, but I loved the piano bar. I liked the toned-down décor.
