I suggest you take some warm clothing, beanies, gloves, scarves as it can still get cool.

Do the Skagway rail trip to White Pass, perhaps the misty fjords plane trip, some whale/dolphin watching and maybe the lumberjack show in ketchikan.:D

If you don't have this notarized letter, they may not let you board the ship, and you don't get a refund for your cruise. This rule is to prevent non-custodial parents from taking kids out of the US.

Bring clothing for all kinds of weather. It could be cool, rainy or warm and sunny.

As for excursions, that's impossible for us to tell you. Only you know your grandchildren and what their interests are--do they like animals, are they very active kids, are they more couch potato types, do they like sightseeing and just viewing scenery. Alaska is beautiful and no matter what you choose, they will have a great time.

The first time we went to Alaska, our children were about that age. We took them dog sledding on a glacier by helicopter; to a gold panning that also included a salmon bake and they enjoyed the lumberjack show in Ketchikan. We also took the White Pass train. Hope this helps
