NO , It's a money transferred to an account in the casino

Monies you get on your card have a 3% charge.

I know you can do the transfer , because I have talked with the casino people, I was just wondering if anyone else ahs done this. I do not wish to pay 3.oo per 100 on the cash advance your talking about.

Purchase casino chips online from HAL before you leave home. There's no service charge. You'll get a letter/card in your cabin confirming the purchase. Take the card + ID to the casino cage and they'll give you cash or chips.

About a month before your cruise go to www.oceanplayersclub.com . Click on VIP Services, then Apply for Casino Credit. Fill out the online form and they will notify you about a week ahead of time of your approval. They will notify the ship and after you embark fill out a quick form at the casino cage. You can get markers at the table games up to the amount of your credit approval. At the end of the cruise you can just write them a check for the markers you took. I believe the limit is $100,000.00.

I wouldn't worry about the interest rate as you are likely to lose a lot more than 3%. I really do understand the entertainment value of losing money at a game mathematically stacked to favor the house.

LordSpain;

Do you know the interest rate on the line of credit.

I'm trying to avoid the credit charges. By doing the money transfer.

But thanks for the info, I was aware of this option, but did't check the interest rate.

I agree that it is your money to enjoy. It is just so easily apparent that the casino games are rigged to favor the house and ship casinos are among the worst. Why not invest in something that you can actually win? We don't get free drinks with our investments, but we do win "jackpots" all the time!

No need for you to understand , We all have our own ways to enjoy things

I don''t disagree on the odds, but, people have won.

I have a new attitude on the casino and do look upon it as a bit of an investment. My discounts on the upcoming cruises from using the casino are far more than what I spend there.. ;)

DH won't object to me playing again. I look on it as a bit of entertainment and if I reap more discounts, even better. ;)

Why not do both?

I don't understand folks paying $500 a ticket to see "Hamilton" or $1,000 to see the Super Bowl but different strokes for different folks.

Getting back to the subject, I have been able to convince the casino manager on some cruises to drop the 3% vig but I agree the marker is the way to go. Its essentially an interest-free loan and you have the option of redeeming the markers on board if you come out ahead. I believe they require a minimum $2,500 or $5,000 line of credit - I forget which as it differs among the cruise lines.
