bconley351 Posted April 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2012 We'll be flying from Athens to LAX, via LHR in October. Our routing requires we overnight in London. Since we don't arrive in London until about 9:00pm, and have a 9:45am flight out it seems best to just stay near the airport since all we'll be doing is sleeping. We'll be using my DH's United miles for the hotel. BA seems to fly in and out of Terminal 5. We'd like to stay as close as possible so we'll have time for breakfast prior to the flight. At this point in time I'm thinking one of the Holiday Inns since they have a free breakfast. Any pros/cons, or other suggestions? We'd love to stay at the Sofitel, but we're trying to limit expense this time out.
newport dave Posted April 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2012 The Sheraton Heathrow is literally only 5 mins from T5, we've stayed there a couple of times and never had a problem. http://www.sheratonheathrowhotel.com/en/airport-hotel?PS=EAME_aa_Starwood_NWE-293_Google%20UK_sheraton%20heathrow_07/27/11 You can either use the Heathrow Hoppa, taxi (approx £10-12) or there is a bus stop directly across the road and you can use the local free bus #350(next stop T5) http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/airport/london-heathrow-hoppa.aspx Heathrow Hoppa http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/ Local Free Bus
jstducky Posted April 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2012 A few years back, I stayed at the Jurys Inn at Heathrow http://heathrowhotels.jurysinns.com/ For me, they were just one tube stop away at Hatton Cross. According to their website, it looks like they are 2 tube stops away from Terminal 5, or they are also on the Hoppa Hotel Bus route. It was a really nice, clean and quiet hotel for a good price. Tiggertastic Posted April 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2012 Hi The Sofitel is in the terminal and the best place for breakfast is Gordon Ramseys plane food in the terminal - no reservation needed We've eaten their and it's great but not cheap and we're booked in the hotel for our next trip out of terminal 5 as it means no bus transfer to the airport Jan
