Where are you starting from? We walked from Dam Square (about a 5 minute walk) & it is only about a 10 minute walk from Centraal Station. You can't take a tram directly to the museum - it is located on Oudezijds Voorburgwal - use google maps to create your walking directions. If you wish, you can take tram #4 #9 or #16 to reach Dam Square. If you are starting from the cruise terminal, you would take tram #26 to Centraal Station & then tram #4 to Dam Square (but it would be just as easy to walk from Centraal Station to the museum) I found the church/museum very interesting.

Tram 26 to Centraal Station and walk from there.

PS It is also walkable from the cruise terminal, if you like to walk.
