Disney vs Carnival

DISCLAIMER: This is not my account. My brother uses this but I am going on a cruise so he let me us it if i had questions. Just to clarify in case it take me a while to answer!

OK, so me and my boyfriend are considering taking a cruise on either Disney or Carnival. Which would be better for a gay couple? We have also considered Royal Caribbean. Disney is the most $ but maybe it will be worth it? I have also heard that Carnival is a "party" cruise line. I do not know much about RC.

So Disney, Carnival, or Royal Caribbean?

If it were me id pick RCCL or Celebrity too many kids on Disney

It would be helpful to know something - anything - about you. Age, for instance? What you're looking for in a cruise? Where you want to sail to? When you want to sail? (E.g., passenger profile on a short Spring Break cruise on Carnival will be quite different from a longer off-season cruise on RCL.)

Do you like gambling? Disney doesn't have a casino, but it does have lots of Disneyish tie-ins...if you like those. Are you looking for onboard athletic stuff? Probably a large RCL ship. Looking to party? Prolly Carnival. Peaceful, romantic, somewhat elegant ambience? Celebrity or Princess over any of the lines you've cited.

They're all gay friendly, more or less, though in my admittedly limited experience, the fewer Southern Baptists and more West Coast liberals aboard, the better.

I'm curious as to why you gave him that advice. In virtually every poll and comparative review I've seen, Disney rates higher than Royal, which in turn rates higher than Carnival. I'm not a great fan of sailing with masses of kids, but all other things - including price - being equal, I'd choose Disney over the other two for myself.

-Carnival seems like a line to use. we aren't "party animals" but we do enjoy a nice party once in a while. Don't mind partying with a few drinks :p

-RC seems laid back. Has the nice features of Disney but still has the atmosphere that Carnival seems to have.

-Again, i havent been cruising in a long time so im sure some of my observations are incorrect. We're scoping out options.

Yeah, actually (not that I've sailed Royal) RCI sounds like a good match for you. A bit classier than Carnival, with plenty of stuff for young guys to do. But be aware that the newer RCI ships are really huge, for better or worse.

I would pick RCI. Disney is just too expensive and the money you save would buy one heck of a lot of drinks

Which is the main reason I have no desire to try an Oasis-class ship. But there are plenty of folks who love 'em.

I wouldn't pick Disney for Spring Break. Disney gets high marks from many. But more families than usual would be on the ship during this time. Regardless what you chose - you will have a good time. I would pick Carnival first, then RCI. Celebrity last based on your age. Feel free to PM me with any questions - I have lots of friends who have sailed all the mainstreem lines. I have sailed on RCI / CCL and NCL. Never had a bad cruise - RCI my least favorite. That said I will definitely sail RCI again.

If you guys liked Disney when you were younger - you can always go to WDW. Depending on the length of the cruise, you can do both. BE AWARE that if you pick a short itinerary during Spring Break - you are going to have LOTS of college - party folks.

Get the Party boat idea out of your heads about Carnival. I saw way more crap going on on RCI and NCL Vs both Carnival cruises.

We've been on 7 cruises with Disney of varying lengths, ranging from 4 nights to 14 nights.

We've always really enjoyed the service, the food and the accomodations. Our expericence has been wonderful.

Yes, no doubt, there are kids on board, but honestly, we never notice them. Disney does a great job keeping them busy from the time they get up to the time they go to bed, so we've never felt there were too many kids.

We also like the decor and classic ship look.

It really all comes down to what one's preferences are. I can't speak for other lines, because we haven't been on anyone else. Our first cruise on another line will be on Celebrity next year. But I also know that we'll definitely be back on DCL at some point.

Just a suggestion: cove balcony on the new Carnival Breeze.

How about east coast liberals? Not as snappy dressers for sure,but will do in a pinch.
