Random slot machine question

I have often hit a bonus round betting one line. After I hit the bonus I always think "I should have max bet".

My question is do you think no matter how many lines you bet you would have the same outcome or do you think each line bet is or can be programmed differently?

All slot machines are pre-programmed with a set amount to return. Slot machines are generally put into sections where the numbers are crunched by a computer system. A slot machine will collect and return money based on a mathematical system. Regardless of your actual bet, every bet essentially has the same chances and the amount you bet is not calculated into what comes out. What matters is how much the machine or machines in the section collected and the % of the money the machines are set to return.

In land based casinos they are mandated by the commission incharge of the casinos. Atlantic City would be DGE now (formerlly Casino Control Commission) and has their minimum payback set to 83%, however most casinos set their slots to have higher payback to draw more players. The cruise ship would of course set this based on their own guidelines as they are only open in international waters and do not have any government entity governing it, however I highly doubt they would cheat as they are already guaranteed a win)

This is not accurate. The machine us programmed with a certain probability of payoff per spin. But every spin is completely independent. You have the same probability of hitting a jackpot whether the machine has paid out zero, one, or a hundred jackpots.

To the OP: The amount of lines played does not affect the probability of a win. It only affects the payout.

If it is not correct then how is the odds paid out. Also what is your source?

My source is from my years of service at Harrahs Atlantic city as a casino technician and a at Ballys Atlantic city as a dealer. I have worked directly with TSB and DGE.

The payouts are preset to give back. The machine itself is not what determines the payout the processor which is usually grouped into sections (which can be 10 machines or 5000 there is no limit and you won't know only DGE or the entity in charge. Pay out is also not in a gaming day and can be within 1 year or even 10)

RE krzi/bshow

Machines are set to payout a certain percentage over the long run and this is done by pre-programming the RNG to payout accordingly and in turn this is more or less also setting the probability/likelihood of outcomes for the various win/loss outcomes on the machines.

In essence, the machines do not always seem to pay out according to what is required/promoted but are programmed to do so in the "long run". Take the simple coin flip example - all things equal the odds are 50/50 but in the short run you can see 90/10 or 20/80 outcome. Overtime, the results will however approach the "true" odds.

This info can be found on any slot/gambling site (I love wizardofodds btw).

Actually if you look at your replies again, both of you are not entirely in disagreement to how machines work/payout. Both of you seem to be saying the same things but in a slightly different context? :)
