Where did those days all go?

We went shopping today. Since we lost over 40 hybrid lilies and day lilies, we had to buy some new ones. The ones we lost can never be replaced. We had many of them for around 30 - 35 years. I went online and found one of them -- $100 for a tiny start. I don't mind paying $15 for a decent plant, but not $100 for a tiny start.

Gorgeous flowers. I have a feeling they wouldn't do well here in the desert.

I imagine they would do well on the other side of the state. Now I'm going to have to go shopping.

Yes

They could not handle the deep freezes that we had and then sudden warm up's into the 80's within a couple of days. That happened about 6 times between December and May -- once a month.

I posted many of the lilies last year on other threads here on CC.

Not good for the desert.

I just put in a hibiscus - very pretty multi-color blooms. Think I'll try a time lapse this weekend of them opening up. I'd post a pic but they're closed when I leave and they close again before I get home. But they do tolerate the 100+ degree heat well.

One of our regular lilies did survive the winter and went crazy blooming the other day.

Taken with my new super zoom Sony HX400V at 1000mm. Two house down on their roof. Love the long zoom range for wildlife and do not have to carry a large lens. Love it. Great camera at a great price.

We used to have a couple of hot air balloons go over our house -- one from KFC and one from Kings.

By leaning on the fence and using the 180° field of view afforded by a fisheye lens, I managed to fit all of the Dumbo ride into the frame.
