12 noon flight out of FLL What time off ship?

Delta changed our flight from 3:00pm to 12:05 pm

Our Celebrity TA arrives at 5:00am...we'd appreciate suggestions for a "safe" time to be off the ship.

How long does it take from port to airport?

Thanks in advance

Couple of issues here.

First, assuming you are docking in Port Everglades. It is commonly discussed on this board that FLL is 10 or 15 minutes away by cab, and that you can easily make flights departing at 10:30. Some like to aim for flights as early as 9:30.

Second, while the fact you are doing a TA slows the disembarkation a bit, the ship still wants you off by 10am at the latest, to allow the next group of pax to board. So, even if you stay on until 9:30 or so, you shouldn't have any problem making your flight.

Kathie, we need a little more information.

Does the ship arrive to Port of Miami or Port Everglades?

Is this your first stop in the USA on this voyage?

As soon as possible - I'd walk off your luggage with the first group around 6:00 am. The line for immigration can be long and if it's a weekend, the airport will be crazy.

I lived there for 15 years, been to the port and airport hundreds of times. Under any circumstance it won't take any longer than 15 minutes in a cab to get from PE to FLL. FLL is a very small very convenient airport and 2 hours ahead is more than ample time to comfortably make your flight. As long as you're in a cab by 9:45 it will be smooth sailing.

Don't stress

You don't have to walk off early

Request to be in the first group called off

As you enter the luggage terminal

hold up a tip for a porter

He will grab your bags, get you through customs and into a taxi in no time.

This tip I learned on CC 13 years ago and it has never failed us.

We always book our flight for 11-11:30

😊

Hi Keith,

It is Port Everglades.

And yes, on this TA Port E is our first stop in the US. Thank you.

Kathie, thanks for the added information.

I asked because you likely won't get off as early as some have said. The process will be a little longer.

12:30 Noon is still fine.

With that said, I would call Delta just to see if there are other options on the flight since they were the ones that changed the flight. You certainly can go with the 12:30 PM but it's always good to see what the options are.

Even though you likely will have plenty of time, I would still get off as early as possible, as the security lines at the airport get alot longer after about 9 AM (when the cruise transfer buses start to arrive). Also, the day of the week is important, as weekend have alot more cruise ships in (and some very big ones!).
