Luderitz, Namibia

The Ocean Princess will be in Luderitz, Namibia from 7 AM until 4 PM. The ship only offers two tours and they are both waitlisted. I'm looking for ideas about what to do and how to arrange it.

Is the tender dock within walking distance of town?

Are there tour sales and/or taxis at the dock?

Is it easy to get into town and see attractions on your own?

What are the "don't miss" attractions?

I'd be happy with any information you all can offer.

We were there in 2010 on the Ocean Princess. I think we docked rather than tendered. There is not a lot to see there. Everything in town is within walking distance of the port.

I just went back and checked my pictures, and we were definitely docked in Luderitz, Namibia.

If you want I can shoe you the pictures from this port while we are on the Singapore to Cape Town leg.

The Princess cruise personalizer says that we'll be tendering. It doesn't really matter. If everything is within walking distance of the port, that's all I need to know. No need to find a tour.

First of all you will either be docke or tendered. You are on a small ship so getting off is easy. From the dock the town is right there. You can walk t

o the end in 15 minutes and up to the church in another 15 minutes. There are several "pubs" that have some nice meals. The ship offers a walking tour as well as a tour to the "Ghost Town". You said they are all waitlisted. As you walk up the main street from the pier you will see on the right a gift shop with a lot of people around. They are a tour enabler. Grivers hang out there and they put it together as an easy trip. All very straight foward and very safe. Namibia is very safe.
