Cruising from International Passenger Terminal -Sydney - Parking?

Recommended Posts

I apologise, I know this must have been asked a million times, I have checked the threads and the net and still can't find what I am after.

If I am cruising from the International Passenger Terminal in Sydney, where is the best place to park for 3 days? We are coming from the north. I would really like to park somewhere where they offer transfers to the cruise ship.

I found this so easy in Brisbane, but am struggling to find somewhere in Sydney that does this.

Any other suggestions???

The only time we have left the car in Sydney we parked at Wilson's Parking at Darling Harbour. It shouldn't cost that much for a taxi from there. Enjoy your cruise., where and when are you going?

Thanks. I will look it up. We are just going on a 2 night "cruise to nowhere" on Radiance of the Seas in November, but we also need the parking for 8 days next year when we go on Carnival Spirit.

There is a parking station much closer than Darling Harbour it is just down the road from the OPT where the plays are held...I parked there last year just a short walk from the OPT. You can book online..I think it was about $60 from memory.

You could try the Inter Park Station at Bond Store 1 in Hickson Road. (Supsect this is the one Rugbypopsie means) Possible if you do not have lots of luggage to walk around the harbour foreshore under the Bridge and past the Park Hyatt to the OPT all on the level. We have parked there for the theatre. They were advertising long weekend style passes then and they are also offered on their web site. See Parking Rates and you can pre book on line.

I am trying that one now but I suspect because the cruise to nowhere is leaving Thursday and we need parking for Thursday and Friday its going to be difficult.

The place is called Interpark. If anybody has a better suggestion I would be pleased to know..

You need to take out a mortgage to park at Sydney airport...anyway I live on the Central Coast now about an hour from Sydney. I could easily take the train down but I need the car to meet friends on the north shore after the cruise we are having dinner and staying the night before coming home.

I think I can probably park in the Wilson carpark over in Darling Harbour...I think the maximum is $30 per day...does anyone know? Trying to book overnight on the net seems to confuse their booking engine.

other option is domain carpark and use train to circular quay

I think they're expensive if you stay overnight though.

If you're willing to take the train there are many on-street spaces you could leave it for free out in suburbia. Otherwise, it's just a matter of price vs convenience.

There are two or three Wilson Carparks just near the OPT. One is @ 155 George St which is just opposite the park in front of the OPT but may be a bit expensive. Check on line under Wilson parking They are all shown on a map and the pricing. There is also a phone number ( 1800carpark )

Is parking any cheaper at the airport and take a shuttle transfer/taxi/train , to the ship?

For the 8 day parking next year, parking at Sydney Domestic long term is not such a silly idea as they often run specials. For example there is a current online offer of $95 total for up to 15 days ($6 per day). Catch the free shuttle to the terminal then train into Circular Quay.

Received this email recently from Wilson's Parking

Cruise parking is available at the Harbourside car park only. The address is 50 Murray Street, Pyrmont (under the Novotel Hotel).

When you enter the car park take a casual parking ticket. After parking your vehicle, take the casual parking ticket to the car park attendant at the Paystation on Level 4 and advise that you are going on a cruise. The car park attendant will ask you to complete a form and will attach your casual parking ticket to the completed form. You can then make your way to the cruise ship.

When you get back from your cruise make your way to the Paystation on Level 4 where the car park attendant will calculate the amount owed for parking. Your casual parking ticket will be validated and can be used at the exit reader when leaving the car park.

The parking fee is currently $14.00 per 24 hours and there is a minimum purchase requirement of 10 days. Each additional day thereafter is $14.00.

No bookings are taken for cruise parking.

Please do not leave any valuables in the vehicle and ensure that you take your car keys with you when you leave the car park.

Harbourside car park is open and manned 24 hours/7days per week. If the Paystation is unattended, please press the green button at the Auto Pay Machine and the Wilson ParkWatch staff will contact the attendant for you.

The height restriction is 2m. All vehicles must fit within a standard car bay.

Regards,

ie You can leave your car for less than 10 days but you have to pay a minimum of $140 :(

I know someone who has used Mascot Parking Services & Valet For parking, because of the airport, there are lots of options near Mascot. http://www.mascotparkingservices.com.au/.

It is currently $85 for 10 days, and a 2 minute walk to Mascot station for a $3 to $4 train back to Circular Quay.

Hi Sue,

It sounds like you are fairly stuck for your parking. I have pre purchased 5 days valet parking at Sydney airport, that I'm not likely to use before it expires. I am happy to pass it onto you for the minimal cost that I paid for it. I am not trying to rip you off :o, I promise, I am happy to email you the voucher and you can book the parking with the company and check all is ok before you part with any $$$. Let me know if you want more details :).

Thanks for the offer but from Gosford to the airport and then back into town, back to the airport after the cruise to get car and then drive to Newport!!!

I would spend more time on the car situation that I will on the two day cruise to nowhere.bloody heck..

I have rellies in Narrabeen I think I will leave car with them and bus down to Manly, ferry to the ship and at least on the way back we are heading in the right direction for Newport...

I think it is ludicrous that you have to pay a minimum of 10 days parking (see post further back) when you only want two nights...Wynyard Parking got back to me its $71 a day for Thurs and Fri and $25 for Saturday...at that rate the parking would cost half of what is cost for one of us in a balcony on the ship!!!

I wonder what parking facilities will be offered when they do the redevelopment of Barangaroo.

Given they're looking at a high roller's casino, and the first 5* hotel in Sydney in a decade, I don't see any budget options in the crystal ball there...

At White Bay, when it replaces Barangaroo as a cruise terminal, they are planning a parking area for 180 cars plus space for coaches and delivery vehicles - doesn't sound like there will be undercover secure long term car parking - more the meet, greet and drop off area as at Barangaroo now. The locals, including a non cruising friend who lives in the area are not happy about the loss of street parking to provide an access road around the harbour foreshores. I suspect someone will get the bright idea of selling casual places on days when there are no cruise ships at the wharf.

  • 5 weeks later...

If you are travelling to Sydney by car and staying over night before the cruise the best way is to book an airport hotel

All airport hotels offer a package where you stay 1 night , or more, and leave your car there for a week free of charge and only pay around $10/NIGHT after that. If you go on a 14 day cruise it would cost you $70 for 2 weeks undercover secure parking, not a bad deal

I have done this many times when flying out of Sydney, it's a steal!!!
