Long Beach embarkation/Carnival Miracle

We will arrive at LB port about 9:30 am by cab/Uber and have a boarding time of 11:30-12. We'd like to go tour the Queen Mary during this time. Is there a safe place to stow luggage? Will Carnival go ahead and take it even though we are not yet boarding?

Bring your boarding pass to the Queen Mary. IIRC Carnival pax get basic admission.
