Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted June 8, 2016 #26 Share Posted June 8, 2016 So back to my question.. if the cruise lines go to both countries in mostly Feb. is the weather hot and humid just in Sydney & Melbourne? Then NZ is mild? Feb 6- 18th https://www.ncl.com/cruises/12-day-australia-and-new-zealand-from-sydney-STAR12SYDMELBWTORRAKAWLGNPETAUAKL?numberOfGuests=4294915774&destinations=Australia_&_New_Zealand_Cruises&state=NY&itineraryCode=STAR12SYDMELBWTORRAKAWLGNPETAUAKL That is a great time to cruise to NZ. The weather is usually nice then but there is always the chance of cool weather at the bottom end of the South Island. Are you still wanting to do land travel in NZ and Australia? If so, I would suggest doing the NZ land travel immediately after the cruise, then fly back to Australia for any land travel there. By then the worst of the heat will be over, with a bit of luck. SF Posted October 27, 2016 #27 Share Posted October 27, 2016 We are thinking of doing a cruise from Auckland to Sydney in mid November 2017 but after reading the temp's are usually still cold and that it can be a wet time in that area we are thinking of not booking. November is the only time everyone can get away so how cold are we talking about? Is there more of a chance for rough seas and not being able to visit the sounds at that time of year? Where are you from? If you are from a cool climate, Auckland and Sydney in November will seem like spring and early summer to you. If your name SF indicates you are from San Francisco, then that time of year should be no problem at all for you. Don't be put off by worst case scenarios, the pros and cons of various times of the year are much less important than you might think. As an indicator, tomorrow's Sydney weather is 72 degrees and sunny, tomorrow's Auckland weather is 64 and rainy. There is always a chance of rough seas and cool weather, but it's still less than the chance of smooth seas and sunny skies. Come on over and enjoy yourself. SF Posted November 1, 2016 #29 Share Posted November 1, 2016 Thanks for replying to my post. We haven't confirmed our booking yet but glad to know the temps at that time of year won't be too bad and it shouldn't way into our decision. Appreciate the information you provided and we're looking forward to hopefully being able to visit.

I have visited NZ several times in November and we found the weather hot and sunny. We are from the tropics and got sunburnt one November because we all spent too long on Hot Water Beach. Off course, it can always be cool on a ship, so take layers.
