We will be arriving at White Bay Cruise Terminal on the 18th of January, 2017. What would be the easiest or quickest way to get to Sydney airport, Ship's transfer, taxi or taxi to CBD and train to airport. I've heard that traffic to the airport can make it difficult.

Easiest and quickest probably ship transfer.

Taxi may cost less depending on how many of you there are.

If you are in no hurry....ship transfer.

If you need to get to the airport quick, taxi.

Don't do taxi to Circular Quay, then train.....could be quite expensive depending on traffic. Taxi will cost at least $30-$35 in this instance.

If there are only two of you, grab another couple disembarking who are going to the airport and share a station wagon taxi or maxi taxi......will work out to be about $35-$40 per couple.

How easy is it to get a taxi at White Bay? When a cruise ship in port are there plenty of taxis available and are they close by?

There's a taxi rank right at the front door.

As a dedicated terminal, it's a common place to go for taxis to wait when ships are in, but it is a bit remote (relatively speaking) and depending on other demand there can be waits there.

In short, it's convenient and you will get a taxi, but you may have to wait.

We have only been through Whites Bay once. There is a taxi rank but our experience was not very good. After we disembarked we waited in a very long line for 30-40 minutes to get a cab. There were some ladies there, perhaps with Princess-not sure, who were managing the taxi lines. They were awful and their mis-management contributed greatly to the wait. They did not bring enough cabs down at one time so that 5 or 6 cabs could be loaded at a time. They did it in twos-complete disaster. Fortunately we had been forewarned and did not have a tight schedule.

Hopefully this has been changed since last year. We were only going to a rental car office so cannot comment on traffic to the airport.

We have the reverse situation- getting from Sydney's international airport to the cruise line on 10/20. Would appreciate any advice.

First off, are you sure it's at White Bay? There are two major terminals in Sydney, different locations and many ships for international visitors go to the other terminal (though not all).

It will depend on how many of you there are and time of day but..

Shuttle is about $20 each as a general rule

Train to Circular Quay and Ferry to White Bay about $25 ea

Taxi, well that depends and there can be long lines getting into the terminal which can make that meter run so I'd hate to quote having not done it, but no change from $50 I'd expect and $70 wouldn't be out of the question.

We've got a slightly different issue, which I'd appreciate help with. Our flight doesn't leave until 3.15pm, but obviously we have to be off the ship (Noordam, arriving 25th October), by 9-ish. The ship transfer/sightseeing tour specifies it is not available to those on flights before 4, even though it's a 4 hour tour leaving at 8.45:rolleyes:

I have a query sitting with HAL about the above, but in the event that we can't use the ship transfer, are there other companies that you would recommend who do something similar? Many thanks!

The issue is for international flights you should be at check-in by 1:15 in your case, so they give a 1 hour leeway for that e.g. traffic, passenger delays to enable them to get to the airport by 2 p.m, for the 4 oclock flight. It's reasonable.

The short tours like that are a specialist market for the cruiselines so not specifically offered elsewhere. There are HOHO buses, but that leaves you to find a place for your luggage while you do that. If it were me, I'd probably take a trip to the city, just have someone hang around with luggage and look around the easy sights in the centre before heading to the airport.
