Post cruise with grandchildren

Our flight does not leave until 3:30pm after our cruise. I hate to sit in an airport all day with our grandsons ages 6 & 8. Any recommendations?

Although you didn't specify which port (which would help), something to remember: a 3:30 pm flight really doesn't mean siting at the airport all day. You have to be at the airport at least an hour and half before your flight, and given how long the lines at cruise port airports can be on dismebarkation days, you might want to make that 2 hours So now you're looking at being at the airport at 1:30 pm.

Then you've got to figure in transportation time from the airport to the ship, and the time at the dock where you get your luggage and get through customs.

You and the kids will undoubtedly want some lunch somewhere in there, and you don't necessarily have to be the first ones off the ship...you can hang back a bit and get some breakfast before you start all this.

So the reality is you may not have that much time to do anything else, and if you do, you've got to figure out what to do with your luggage.

Not trying to totally shoot down your idea - depending on what port you're arriving at, there may well be something you can fit in. Give us the port and someone might have a suggestion.

Not knowing what port you are sailing to/from that 3:30 time could be just about right if you are going in/out of Galveston and flying in/out of IAH where it is about a 1 1/2 hr drive just to the airport. Of course there could be fog (Galveston/Tampa which could delay your arrival), river issues (New Orleans), what day (extended delays at the airport) etc etc etc. You really need to provide more info before you can get any useful answers.
