Reporting Semi-Live from NCL Gem 5-23-15

Welcome to my second semi-live report, after having reported last month from the Royal Quantum of the Seas, we are doing the same itinerary on the Gem for the next 7 days.

Port Canaveral - Great Stirrup Cay - Nassau

I will hopefully be able to provide semi daily updates, depending on the connection with activities, food and comparisons to the Quantum both good and bad.

We drove to Manhattan this morning, paid the $210 parking fee and this was our first glimpse of the Gem

We are in an aft penthouse 10164. Pics and impressions to follow.

Much appreciated & thanks in advance for sharing. Cool, we are going to keep watching - are you using mobile/cellular connection now & plan to do so during the cruise (when you have coverage - also, which carrier are you using ... in Canaveral, VZW was best, followed by AT&TM and T-Mo trailing due to tower locations at the port) Or, will you have ship's satellite internet plan - folks are always interested in plan/prices/connection speed, etc.

Updates on the O'Sheehans/Blue Lagoon latest food menu (breakfast & all-day) are always great - in addition to the Suite life. If you will be eating in the MDR along with specialty for evening, please note any enhanced items, new additions, etc. (images uploaded via Tapatalk are always good - I used it in March on the Breakaway to do ... semi live but brief update myself for fellow CC'ers)

A nice day for sailaway and you are in the middle of Fleet Week, going to be a great sailaway - probably need a windbreaker on your private deck, however.

Thanks mking, I use att and while in port will use cell service. I will use wifi onboard and will report on rates ,and compare it to the awesome unlimited service on Quantum.

Also on this booking we had included ultimate dining( 7 specialty dinners) and the beverage package was included along with gratuities with the 4 perks for booking a suite during the booking promotion.

I use tapatalk for iphone and ipad.

Onboard wifi prices:

Comparing this to Quantum they had unlimited for $10 per day per device, so it was $160 for 8 night only on two devices. This I assume is for any number of devices. I will let you know if I can be simultaneously on my ipad and iphone.

You cannot be logged into two devices on your unlimited wifi plan at the same time. On Quantum as mentioned you could have two devices logged simultaneously. Otherwise I chose the unlimited plan for the full 7 days, as we had a $200 onboard credit so that covers that.

Is there a special/new promotion being extended on Future Cruise Reward, now called Next Cruise Deal (extra OBC on top of the $100 when purchased & choice of added "promo" perk when booking anothe cruise) - it is being offered this month on the Breakaway & Getaway, for a limited time. It would be interesting if that is being run on the Gem/smaller ships as well - they have had 2 PCC onboard sailing & doing the booking. It should be listed in the Freestyle Dailies, so no need to upload again - let us know when you get the chance.

At the mustard drill, hope they have pretzels and beer haha :)
