Luaggage in Fort Lauderdale

We weren't able to find good priced flight right after our cruise and decided to stay in Ft Lauderdale for 6-7 or even more hours. We'll have an opportunity to do some sightseeing etc.

We have to questions:

1) Do they have special storrage at the Airport so we can leave our bags?

2) How far is an airport from downtown or other touristic attractions?

Thank you very much,

Natalia

I was told by the purser's desk person that your luggage can only be left at the airport two hours before your flight.

Best option is to rent a car and when you drop it off they will drive you to the airport. Try Enterprise: they picked us up at the pier and the office was less than 10 minutes away. If you go to the office NOT nearest the airport, you will not have to pay the extra airport access charge. When you call Enterprise they should be able to tell you which office is the one near the pier--- don't remember the address but it was not the one on 6th st. in Fort Laud. I'm not sure what the tourist attractions are in Fort Lauderdale. If you have enough time, the Riverwalk and water taxi are fun, or you could browse around Las Olas Blvd. It has lots of cute shops and restaurants. The water taxi is much more time consuming because you have to wait for it and it can be 30 minutes between boats.
