Default Online Documentation-Help Please

This is my first Celebrity cruise and I booked it directly via their website. I see that all kinds of information is online under My Celebrity. I am concerned about luggage tags that I hear people get in the mail with their documents. Does anyone have experience with the online docs or should I contact Celebrity about this?

Default Go to "On Line Check-in"

Normally, to get luggage tags you need to get Paper Documents. To do that:

Go to your online reservation and select “On Line Check-In”, then select “View Details” at the bottom. That should show you your Online Check-In Summary. Below that section should be a “Ticket Delivery Preference”. This will list your preference of Paper Format or eDocs. To modify to what you wish, either 'Deliver my Documents electronically” or “Deliver my documents in paper format”. You can select either and that should work.

Denny, can I ask another question? I also booked online, and I paid in full a month ago (the cruise is Feb 1st, so closing date is not til Nov 23). I went into My Celebrity and changed it to paper docs but I am thinking I may need to change it back to electronic, because I leave on my big trip at the end of November.

When do they email/post the documents? Is it a set number of days before the cruise, or ????

thanks.

My docs come up as edocs with a download option. I think I need to call to get them switched to paper -- I can't see how one would be able to download paper luggage tags....?

Trinitygirl: your docs should be downloadable after you pay (mine were.....). I sail Nov. 27 and they have been available since the day after I paid a couple of weeks ago.....

Whether you get luggage tags really depends on who you booked with. We booked with a TA and did on-line check-in. Our TA sent luggage tags about 2 weeks prior to our cruise.

I just downloaded and read the edocs and it says I will get my luggage tag at the pier......I'm not going to worry about it. Thanx!

Default luggage tags

I did edocs for my last Celebrity cruise - we just filled out the luggage tags at the pier.
No big deal and one less thing I had to remember to walk out of the house with

I always take a page or two of those return address labels and used them instead of having to write so much!

I believe that from Mid Nov, if you get your e-docs you can go online and order bag tags to be sent direct to you. This is happening on Royal Caribbean already!!!!

hmmmm. So, i went into Manage My Reservation, Online Check In, Document Delivery preference, and changed it to email. It says that it will email my documents as a PDF.

So, my question reverts to my original question; WHEN will they email me the documents?

Is it dependent on having already having checked in online? If so, I have a problem because I can not check in online; it keeps saying my travel agent country is different to my contact details. I don't have a TA and did the booking on my own online, so there is a bug in the system somewhere. I was going to leave it til I get to the States in December to call the tollfree number and sort this out. But I might not have access to a printer or it might be really expensive, so if the documents packet is lengthy, I would prefer to print it out before I leave.

any ideas?

Just take your booking /payment confirmation number with you, as long as you have done on line check in and completed your ESTA there is no need for the paper.
Print off your seapass details (with the barcode) your cabin details can be filled in at the pier. Thats it Done.

Trinitygirl, I got my eDocs the same day I made my full payment which was when I booked since it was after the final payment date.
I had the same problem with that error message when trying to do the online check in. It got to do with what country the cruise was booked in and how that compares to the address country you are entering in the check in information. Did you book through a US travel agency or directly with X in the US?
I, being Canadian, wanted to book in USD so changed the country on X's website to the USA to see the USD pricing. I did a courtesy hold and the next day call X to confirm the booking and to arrange full payment with no problem except I was booked under the USA reservation system since I had used the booking number from the courtesy hold. Rather than having to cancel my US booking and re-doing it as a Cdn one which would involve a refund and re-billing and exchange and conversion fees would come into play, the tech person I was passed on to because the X agent couldn't figure out what the problem was, simply change the country in the contact information in the online check in to the United States but left all of the rest of the detail there as it should be, Cdn address with Cdn province, postal code and phone number. This was easy to do since the Cdn provinces are on the state/province drop down list for selection. That person said that when I check in when embarking at the ship to simply have them enter the correct country which may well come up since I've booked a Canada resident rate.
With you being Down Under I suspect you will have to call X to sort this out since the Aussie states are not on the US check in contact selection list.
RC's web site has a better idea since it allows Cdns to see either Cdn or US dollar pricing.

But she can't do the on line check in thus can't print out her Xpress pass. She could do the check in when embarking as long as she has the booking information but then would have to check in at least 90 minutes before the sailling time instead of the 60 minimum needed when you have done the online check in.
What is ESTA?

I have the impression she was intending to do the online check-in in the US after it was sorted out.

Either way it's not a problem though, even to not have the Xpress Pass. Last cruise I had done the OLCI, printed the Xpress pass... then the staff at the pier just got me to fill out all the forms and enter everything again anyway (and didn't look at the Xpress passes I had)!

Regarding the documents themselves though, I don't think they require on-line check-in to have been completed first, but am not certain. They don't contain anything specific to what you have entered though (which is for the Xpress pass) thus would expect they could be sent separately. Celebrity Australia can probably confirm that readily.

ESTA is the travel authority all visitors not requiring visas to the US have to have filled out before leaving their country.

The e-docs being released is all connected with the payment of the booking and then this can depend on whether you are direct or with an agent(even then, they can have different payment terms with X).

If direct, then you need to pay all the balance before docs will release, then it can happen any time from about 57 days before sailing.

Royal Caribbean have an office in Sydney now, why not give them a ring to help with the online check in issue?

Electronic System for Travel Authorisation. It is what you need to complete and get approved if you wish to enter the US under the Visa Waiver Programme.

To get your e-docs has nothing to do with online check-in. It is almost all about the payment of the cruise. If you book direct and pay the balance in full, then from about 57 days prior your e-docs become available.

Why not call the Royal Caribbean Sydney office to sort out the issue?

Electronic System for Travel Authorisation is what you need to complete and have approved if you want to enter the US under the Visa Waiver Programme.

aha! the is the magic number. that means i should expect an email or something on the website early december.

yes, my situation is the same; i booked direct on the US website so that must be the problem. it did accept my australian address when i made the booking, but this must be the catch. i will have plenty of time at the port to check in so if worst comes to worst, i will just do it all the long way, but i will try to clear it all up so i can OLCI, once i get to the US. thanks everyone!

Note that that "from" is quite variable. Think I received my edocs about a month out from our cruise, and payment was made some time earlier.

We are sailing 12/14. We reserved September of last year, and checked in online several weeks ago. We made final payment about four weeks ago, and received our electronic documents today.
