Default Lido REALLY forward......

We just recieved our guaranteed outside cabin. It is L 102. I looks out right over the bow but there does appear to be an obstruction. Maybe the bridge??!! Or maybe a roof type structure. Does any one have any info?

Thanks in advance

Sue

Default bridge

I didn't look at the deck plan but it sounds like that small deck area that's actually the roof of the bridge. There are a couple of staterooms whose balcony area is just below and behind this deck area. You get access to this spot by going through the "secret passegway" at the forward most part of the Lido deck hallway. That's my best guess anyway.

They are nice cabins. My friend had one in that location on the Crown. She really liked it. Minimal obstruction, and her cabin had a little more space because of the shape of the room.

Sue .... the obstruction is basically the staircase outside onto the Bridge deck .... but as an Obstruction it is minimal, you will have great views Forward.... plus as someone also posted you can get access to the Bridge deck by going through the 2 doors at the end of the hallway at the side of L104 Port side and L103 Starboard side when entering or leaving the Port and also when the hsip is moored.

Default Check next deck up

Sue, Please take a look @ the deck directly above you.... are you right under the treadmills ?? If you are, don't count on sleeping late. There will be loud "thumping" starting around 7:30 a.m.
Just a thought,
Billy

We had L102 on the Emerald (layout is simillar to the CB). We liked the size of the window in the room, and the there is a passage way for crew outside the window along with a huge, nearly private deck that was open at sailaway and one day in port (Grand Turk)

But I just have to warn you that the sound and vibrations of stomping feet on the treadmills was pretty brutal. We're pretty easy going travellers and we live in an urban area where we're are accustomed to a certain level of noise (construction, traffic, etc) but we were really put off by the constant stomping. It resulted in spending a lot of time outside of our room and no afternoon naps or sleeping in.

Don't want to scare ya but thought you should know in advance.

Thanks everyone for your info. As far as the noise DH will be one of the earlybirds on the treadmills. Won't bother him a bit. However maybe I will bring some earplugs.
This forum is so helpful.

We have seen these cabins and if you are like us that are early risers you get awesome views when coming into port and you are out and about before the heavy footed treadmill users.

We figure we don't go on cruises to sleep in late - could stay at home and do that for free - naps are best on one of the open decks with the sea breeze and a little sun......ahhhhhhh!

Sue ... we were in L106 on the Ruby last year and will be again in just over a weeks time ..... we never heard any noise from the Gym at all.

Pirategal ..... where was the passageway you mention for the crew ? the only walkway outside of thos cabins is to go over the steps or gain access to the Bridge deck... unless the emerald is different from the Ruby ?

The treadmills are directly above L101,102,103 and 104. And it's not just the issue of disturbing a nap; exposure to the on-going thumping of the treadmills whenever your're in the room takes a toll on you after a while. As far as the view is concerned, your view of the ocean is pretty well blocked by the deck in front of you. You do have a good view of the sky if you like blue and good lighting. Then there is the motion sickness problem. If it's a rough sailing, then these are the perfect rooms in which to feel it.
