Boards Scheduled Time Outs for Daily Maintenance

For your information, the Cruise Critic boards are subject to necessary daily data base maintenance time outs that can take a few minutes to an hour. The usual time for the time out is about 3:00am Eastern (US) time which is 8:00am GMT and 6:00pm Eastern (Aus) time.

Adjust accordingly for daylight savings time and/or BST.

During that time you may have difficulty accessing the boards. The difficulty can be manifested by slow access to no access at all.

I always find, here in the UK we cannot access your board until at least 9.30am , 9am being the usual time for no access.

I have the access problem around 12:00 midnight PDT which is 8:00am BST (British Summer Time) but I don't have any personal experience with the actual restart time because I'm too busy doing other things, like dreaming about a cruise.

The folks who handle the board's servers gave me the "about an hour" comment in response to my question so it could easily be that their notion of an hour's time is British...sort of like a British pint which is 25% larger than a US pint.

The nightly backup will now happen 1/2 hour later and for a shorter period during which time the boards may be sluggish, but still accessible.
