Thumbs up Norfolk, VA voted best cruise terminal 5/30

The cruise terminal in Norfolk, VA, was voted the best in the nation and second only to Venice, Italy, worldwide for the week of May 30, 2009, for RCI cruises. This was based on input from up to 4800 passengers who embarked or disembarked at the terminal at that time.

Our new cruise terminal is really doing a great job. My DW and I are Diamond+ and the Norfolk terminal is one of the easiest to use we've encountered over the years. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the security folks get you in and out quickly.

Come on RCI, give Norfolk a ship for more than 2 months out of the year. There's lots to do and see for your passengers coming through the area and our airport is very passenger friendly and only about 15 minutes from the terminal!

How about it? Expose your passengers to that good old southern hospitality!

I agree! This was the best cruise terminal I have ever cruised out of. We were literally on the ship within five minutes!!

The port personnel were very friendly and finding our luggage after we disembarked was a breeze.

RCI - please keep using this port!

Well, I would hope so since it's only a couple of years old. This one was built entirely as a cruise port which you cant' say about every port. I'm sure they looked at everything loved and hated at other ports when they designed it. I was in Norfolk for a couple of days when it was being built and you could tell a lot of planning went into the design. I used to live in VA Beach and miss the area so maybe we'll cruise out of there soon.

I totally agree with all. I wish RCCL would give us more than 2 months and some more itineraries. Have been on 3 cruises out of here and got another scheduled.

When we returned to Norfolk on Grandeur's repo, the terminal part was nice, but outside was chaos.

The buses blocked the cabs. To access a cab you had to walk all the way arround to the right to the end of the street.

I felt sorry for the porters who had this long wait with their people to catch a cab and then go back to the terminal for another "fare".

I see most postings here are from VA or the area. I'm not, but loved your terminal! We stayed with my friend's brother and he drove us to the terminal. It's a beautiful area and the terminal is very clean. We found the people working there to be very helpful and friendly, and it was a breeze getting on and off the ship.
I've always loved VA and find Virginians to be very friendly people.
Just my 2¢ from MA!
BTW, WiseSky, her brothers are both retired Navy.
