Good luck and hope you have a great time on your cruise.

Or you could save the effort, walk up to the bar, buy a drink and enjoy!!!

We took six rr's on the destiny a month ago....no problems at all! They also did not open our 12 packs of pop or check our water, and one of the twelve packs had been opened and resealed wit red duct tape....ymmv

Yes, even though their contract says no. At least I've never had any problem. I've seen cases being taken on but I only take a couple of six packs of soda and water. Pack it in your carry-on, if possible, to avoid having to go to the "naughty room" to show it isn't alcohol.

I am an x-ray technician and rest assured the writing has no effect. In fact the x-rays will pass right through just about any liquid and plastic without being seen. We have a liquid contrast that we use that has iodine or some other kind of "liquid metal" that we use for our exams. If water could be seen well then we wouldn't have to have people drink yucky barium

well, I broke down and purchased some Rum Runners. It will be interesting. I'm actually just going to try it with 2 of the 8 oz ones -- but have purchased some booze to be in the cabin when I get there thru Bon Voyage. I figure I can use the Rum Runners when I'm out on the ship if I'm careful.

Medical x-rays and the scanner images at the port are not the same images...google airport luggage scanner images and you will be able to see liquids on the scan...

We had two of our four Rum Runners caught by NCL last month. They're getting better at seeing them. I'm going to do more with contact lens solution bottles. I found that idea here http://cruisesips.com

It is so funny reading all of the schemes and contortions you go through to smuggle booze onto a cruise ship that tells you up front not to bring any liquor. Then you get bummed out because they "caught" you and confiscated your booze. If you have to have three or four fifths with you for a week long cruise, you may want to reevaluate the need.

On our last cruise on the Voyager of the Seas February 2011 and Serenade of the Seas 2011, RCI confiscated any type of drink or bottle they found. Our travel mates lost their diet cokes and Dr. Peppers. We saw a lot of people who had smuggled onboard booze get it "confiscated" by the security group.

If the cruise line tells you, yes you may have to read the brochures, web sites, and ticket, not to bring booze onboard (they do make a lot of money selling drinks) don't get tweaked when they find them and take them. Having to go to RR's says it all. You know you are not supposed to do it.

It's called a "thrill" of getting away with something. When you were a kid, didn't you ever try to do something you weren't' supposed to? Well, maybe not...too bad.

Heck, we ALL have a bit of pirate in us..........if they take my stuff, BFD. They can't throw me off the ship.

I've got collapsible bottles all throughout my suitcase -- with nothing in them. I plan on filling them at breakfast with juice, etc.

We have always used opaque shampoo and body wash bottles. We rinse them well, let them sit for a few days with white vinegar in them (to get the fragrance out) rinse them well again, fill them with the libation of choice, and then pack them in our toiletries. Contact lens solution bottles would work particularly well, also. Thanks for the idea!

Ohhhhh yes they can...and while I have never heard of them doing this I would hate to be the first example!!!

Onboard Policies

Q:
Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onboard?

A:
Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Board will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.

Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time),may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them.

If I am dropping $2,000.00 to $3,000.00+ to go on a cruise, I am not worrying about a weeks worth of drinks.

And yes, you can be denied boarding for violating the no booze policy. While you may say BFD if caught, others are so pissed at being denied their booze that they bitch and get mad for several days...

A more dumb policy is refusing to allow a pocket knife onboard. That is truly rediculous. It does not deprive them of revenue. It allows the passenger a tool to open tie wraps on luggage. And if their concern is someone may use it to kill or maim a fellow passenger, it could be done with the dull knives from the dining rooms.

LOL exactly!

Point is whether we agree with the policy or not we can't change it. The only way could be to stop cruising on their ships... and I like them too much to do that!

I had them take up my son's kindergarten blunt nosed scissors I had in an outside pocket to cut the cable ties. When I told them I thought the rule was if the blade was 4" or less, they were o.k. She just blew me off and started to write out a receipt for them so I could reclaim them at the end of the cruise. I had no intention of standing in a line to reclaim the 30 year old scissors at the end of the cruise, of course.

Now I just open the scissors up and mix them in with my jewelry in my carry-on and, so far, that has worked.

I would like to pass on what I have found works for me. Buy a good box of wine, I prefer black box, take the filled wine bladder out of the box and pack it in your suitcase. My BFF and I have done this many many times w/out incident. She brings a bladder of white wine and I bring red wine. We also like vodka and rum and we do the same w/them. I just buy a box of wine, drink it then wash out the bladder really well and refill it w/vodka. I do tape up the spigot In case of leaks but have never had any, and yes we fly. There's enuf room in the bladders for expansion during flights.

Default RR's from EBAY

Make sure you do trial run -- some of the "RR's" from eBay are not what you think they are.
