I know this trip is back and hope any who went on it are unpacked and ready to tell us about it. I will be on the October Star Flyer back to back trips and am very interested in snorkeling (experienced snorkeller), excursions and just general info. We have a cat 5 cabin that I am sharing with another lady whom I've only met by e-mail and phone. Curious as to how much room and storage we'll have also.
Also I've small note , I've developed a small medical problem and wonder if it flares up , is the medical attention fairly adequate on board? I'm not going to let this stop me. I may just have to curb my eating and drinking with an inflamed mouth but I'll be there as to me it is possibly my last " trip of a lifetime" Thanks to all |

If your medical condition is serious, don't go. The Star Flyer's medical staff consists of a nurse. Medications on board seem very limited and we had trouble even tracking down simple medications like asprin (never did find any). Even on shore, medications are difficult to locate (local stores don't stock anything aside from bandaids -- you have to find a pharmacy for even common (elsewhere) over the counter meds). One passenger had heart problems and was life flighted back to Tahiti where there is fully modern care available. There are medical clinics on at least one island in each of the groups you visit but not necessarily located nearby to the ship's anchorage (as an extreme, you might have to pay for a water taxi to take you 25 miles to another island). If your condition is all that serious or painful, be sure to bring any and all medications you might need.
As to how much storage you will have in a category 5 cabin, you won't have much. If you go to Starclippers.com, you can get a 360 tour of your cabin type. You will likely have 2 small closets (one with shelves, one without), some under the bed storage for suitcases, a drawer in a nightstand, and a drawer under the minature sofa. There are also a few hooks on the wall and one in the bathroom. There is also a medicine cabinet. Of course, there's not much reason to bring a lot of clothes -- just bring shorts, swimsuit, tees, trainers, surf socks (to protect against coral cuts), and a couple of "resort casual" outfits to wear at dinner. Laundry service (but not dry cleaning) is available if their washing machine isn't broken down again. A pullout clothesline is located in the shower to hang wet things or things you wash out in the sink.

Thanks Roger. Not super serious but might flare ( auto immune problem) Just needed to know the basics which you told me . Yes, of course, I'll arm myself before going.
Now after our comments. I'm going to have to whittle down what I take. Always take too much anyway. Shoes are so fiddly in a suitcase even if only to taking thongs, water shoes and sneakers. Sure hope , those folks that went in July will reply for other little goodies to tell us. Also the ones that are going on the September back to back cruises that they offered. Dianne |

We were on the July23rd cruise. They have changed the itinerary. Too much at-sea time. We had rough seas for over a day. Take seasickness medicine.
Two things I highly recommend: The helmet dive in Moorea and the Coral Gardens Drift Snorkle. |

We were on the July 5th sailing and had a great time. We were in a cat 5 and I was surprised by how much space there is. If you are traveling light, there will be plenty of room. We didn't even have a nurse on ours. The 3.5 ATV tour is worth every penny. It's the best excursion we have ever been on and we have done lots. The robinson curasoe tour on bora bora is a big waste of money. Def. take sea sickness medicine. :

Hello! Can someone say if the restaurant on the Flyer is as cold as it was on the Clipper? We are of the opinion, that the air conditioning, in the restaurant, on the Star Clipper and Royal Clipper was too cold.
Just want to know so that I can take a wrap-around or two. Thanks for an answer! |
