Default Private Tours & Babies

We are very happy to have booked with rome in limos for 3 of our ports on our next cruise.

It will be 4 adults, my 5 yo Grandson and 9 month old Grandson.

Do you think all day tours will be too long ? How is this tour company with children ? I've read wonderful reviews ,but wasn't sure how often they tour with young children. The baby should be fine. But my Grandson might want to run off some energy or go potty. Are the private drivers flexible ?

Oh, we are using them out of Naples ( Amalfi Coast ), Civitavecchia, and La Spezia.

They are private drivers and you are the only ones on the tour, correct? They should be perfectly happy to stop whenever you ask them to.

Yes, I absolutely think an all day tour is not really advisable with a five year old and a nine month old.

Thanks, Rugrats for your input.

Was wondering if rome in limo does 1/2 day tours ?? We ,currently, have 3 full day tours.

The problem is in the distances......you can't really do a half day tour of Rome from Civitavecchia; by the time you get there and see one thing it will be time to turn around and drive back to the port. The same is true for the Amalfi Coast -- to really get to where the Amalfi Coast starts, you have to drive a distance from Naples.

If your 9-month-old is a good sleeper in the car, it may not be so bad. I imagine it might be harder on the 5-year-old, particularly in Rome, if you try to see too much. Instead of a half-day tour, you could try a full day tour but one that is LIGHT on the sightseeing. Don't try to squeeze in the Vatican, Colosseum, Forum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, etc, etc...... It's too much.

Amalfi Coast may not be too bad because you can alternate periods of driving in the car with some walking around the towns. Again, don't try to do everything. Maybe pick two towns rather than 3.

I can't answer for La Spezia, but if you are planning to do the Cinque Terre, there is a fair amount of walking involved. Not sure how you will carry the 9-month-old? I'm not sure the path is stroller-friendly; perhaps someone else might know better....

We didn't have any little ones in our groups with Rome In Limo, but another family on our ship did and they had a great experience. Most of the drivers they use have families of their own so they understand your concerns. From what I've read on their website and heard from others, they accomodate little ones very well and make the tours fun for them too with plenty of down time to make it fun and non-overwhelming for all involved. I would advise sending them an email and telling them of your situation and concerns and see if they can give you suggestions and put your mind at ease.
My husband has the attention span of a 5 year old and he had a wonderful time!
